New Year, New Look And LOTS Of Blog Tart Goodness For You!…

Posted by Jen | blog tarts, random ramblings | Thursday, January 8, 2009

About a month ago I warned, ahem TOLD, you that my new look was coming…and that it was coming with an abundance of blog tarts. Well, that day has arrived thanks to Sara and her Tweaks and Designs. I gotta say I love it and I can’t wait to hear what you think. BTW, the best way to view this site now is NOT in Internet Explorer. It’s not that there is anything technically different in IE, it just looks better on Mozilla, etc. {I’m no tech guru, so I don’t have any other explanation other than, “Sara said so.”}.
It’s totally different and fresh. I love that my logo is on the side and not a banner on the top. If you recently missed a post, there are six boxes below the current post showing the last 6 posts. Then, there is a link to older posts below that. All my blinkies, badges, stats and stuff are at the bottom since I thought that it was getting a little cluttered on the side. Since my posts are usually not as long as today’s post, they won’t be hidden. On the sidebar there aren’t long list anymore. Drop down menus are there to help keep it clean, but also right at your fingertips, should you want to navigate over that way. So tell me what you think! Love it, like me? Hate it? Suggestions?

A few months ago Cammie did a major blog candy give away that supported her Grandmother’s Nursing Home. I really like the idea of having something philanthropic to go along with the giveaway, so THANK YOU for that idea Cammie! My giveaway isn’t nearly as large, but still quite AWESOME.

So here’s the deal…
Fellow North Texan and Splitcoaster Julie Carlisle {afancycat on SCS} works in the International Student Services Department at Dallas Baptist University {DBU}. They have students from over 50 countries at the University that they give cards to. I have donated several cards to her in the past and she was one of the first people that came to mind when I decided I wanted to do this blog tart giveaway, as she is always so sweet and grateful. Send your card to her at the address:

Dallas Baptist University
Attn: Julie Carlisle
3000 Mountain Creek Pkwy
Dallas, TX 75211

Because of the size of this blog candy, there are strict rules. Please read {and follow!} these carefully {yes, I know that they sound much like Cammie’s; I checked with her and she is ok with that!}…

1. There is ONE winner and there ONE entry per person. You can send as many cards as you like, but you are entered ONCE. ***EDITED TO ADD: Birthday and All Occasion cards are best, but ANY kind will be appreciated. Also, please send BLANK cards.***
2. Did you see rule #1? Just making sure that this is CRYSTAL CLEAR.
3. Please show your support for the companies that donated to this fab giveaway! I have linked all of them below.
4. Because this is benefiting DBU and lots of goodies are up for grabs, I ask that you post a little blurb about this to promote people sending cards. I’d love Julie to tell me that her mailbox is flooded with cards for the international students!
5. To OFFICIALLY enter, you will post a comment on THIS <--that's a link to a DIFFERENT post-- post. If you don't enter there, you are not entered. There is ONE entry per person. ***Note: I have comment moderation turned on to keep gross spam from popping up. If you do not see your entry right away, do not fret, it’s just awaiting moderation. Duplicate entries will be DELETED.***

Your entry should look like this:

Name: {your name here!}
My card I sent to DBU: {place a link to your card on your blog or SCS here!}
Date I sent my card: {enter the date your card went postal here}
Name of a company that donated to this giveaway: {name a company that donated to this here!}
My blog: {link to your blog, if applicable}

6. All entries {remember, ONE per person} must be entered on THIS post by January 31st at 11:59pm CST. The winner of all the goodies {see them below} will be announced on February 1, 2009. It will be the winner’s responsibility to contact me within 48 hours or a new winner will be chosen. ***ETA…winner will be announced on February 2nd***

Before I get to the blog tart prize list, I want to say a HUGE GIGANTIC MONDO THANK YOU to all those that donated and to those that support my blogging {that’s you}!

World Card Making Day, A Sketch For You To Try, A New Designer Of The Month and Blog Tarts From Me, Plus More {Oh My!}…

Posted by Jen | blog tarts, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, October 4, 2008

Hey there! I’ve got A LOT going on here today! First things first, it’s WORLD CARDMAKING DAY! As I noted a couple days ago, this is a holiday {yes, it is!!} that was started by Paper Crafts Magazine few years ago in an effort to bring card makers together. You will find a variety of links on the World Card Making Day site, including lots of inspiration and a place to share your own work! Keep reading until the end to find out how this ties into my blog candy.

As you may know, each month I bring on one person to be the Designer Of The Month here at iheart2stamp. This month, I am so happy to present to you Nancy Riley, aka Stampinat6213. Please give her a warm welcome, and of course delight in her card creation.

A little about Nancy in her own words…
What an incredible honor it is to be Jen’s October Guest Designer! Jen first offered this opportunity to me just as I was preparing to return to full-time work outside of the home for the first time in 13 years. At the time, I couldn’t even imagine how I would possibly find the time to do anything FUN like this! After several weeks, I am still completely out of my element working full-time away from home and miss my role as SAHM, but have discovered that I’ve just GOT to make time for stamping! It is truly something I’m passionate about that brings me so much satisfaction and enjoyment.

I have been stamping for over six years, and scrapbooked for several years prior. It wasn’t until I started blogging 1 ½ years ago that I even attempted to design my own cards or play along with any on-line stamping challenges. You might say that I’m now “hooked“, and Jen’s Sketch For You To Try has always been one of my very favorite challenges! You can see more of my artwork on my blog, iSTAMP. I am a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, a Great Swaps Girl, and was Featured Stamper #48 on Splitcoaststampers.com.

I’ve been married for 18 years, and am Mom to my teenage daughter and teenage son. I was born and raised an Iowa farm girl, and have lived in the Arizona desert for 22 years.

Here’s today’s Sketch For You To Try…

Here’s my sample using my “new” SU! stamps and colors {FINALLY!!}…

Nancy’s darling card {I love this color combo!!}…

Check out the samples from a few of my friends, Amy R., Amy S., Carole, Shannan and Susan!

Wanna play? Here’s what you should know…
1. ANYONE can play.
2. Have fun with this!
3. When uploading to SCS, use the keyword SFYTT.
4. Post a link to your blog or gallery on this post.

BLOG TART TIME!!!
Each one of you that participates the Sketch For You To Try and links your card to this post will be entered to win a special edition magazine from Papercrafts. I also want to sweeten the pot by throwing in a new stamp case from MFT and 2 MFT sets, and how about some ribbon too!!??!!

Go forth and create! I will announce the winner of the blog candy next Saturday, so you have lots of time to play!

Last Week’s Winner & A Bella-rific Sketch For You To Try…

Posted by Jen | Bella, blog tarts, cards, challenges | Saturday, September 13, 2008

The winner from last Saturday’s post is…

#122 Michelle, who said:

My favorite memory of this summer had to be my husband coming home from training. He was suppose to be deploying to Iraq but due to a medical condition he is unable to go right now. So I happily welcomed him home last week.

Michelle, please email me all your info {link under my pic} so I can get out the 2 MFT sets, paper and ribbon to you! :)

This week there is yet another prize up for grabs. YAY!! You will notice that all of us have done our creations with upcoming holiday themed Bellas {Halloween, Turkey Day, Christmas}. Emily has offered a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the Bella site for those who participate in the sketch using their Bellas. You don’t have to use holiday images; you just have to have fun! So, here is the sketch {flipflop it if you need to accomodate your Bella}…

Say Charge…It’s Saturday!…

Posted by Jen | Stampavie, blog tarts, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, August 16, 2008

Who can resist these Rachelle Anne Miller stamps? I just {heart} these images, so when this one came in the mail the other day I knew that I had to use it for today’s Sketch For You To Try. I just crossed over 600K yesterday {woot woot!}, so I am going to do another chance to win a goodie bag from me for all those that participate in this week’s SFYTT. Just be sure to provide a link to your project on this post by Thursday night. I will draw a random winner on Friday morning.

Before I get onto the sketch, I want to give a BIG cheer to Amy S. {Pickletree} who is the newest Dirty Girl on SCS. Congrats Amy!! Be sure to check out her sample for the sketch, along with those of Amy R., Carole, Shannan and Susan.

Ok, here we go…

Bonnie {this month’s Guest Designer!} did a wonderful job of interpreting this sketch! I love how her design is a little outside the box and oh so clever!!…

Have fun with this one!! The star is meant to represent any large embellishment/shape, so don’t feel limited by the star shape. When uploading to SCS, please use the keyword SFYTT. Have a wonderful weekend. I’m gonna take Monday off, but I will be back on Tuesday. See ya then ;)
