Welcome (back) to the jungle…
May 11th, 2008 by Tony
It seems so foreign, and yet so familiar. There is no question that when I show up, I will recognize the surroundings, but they will be all new faces. Seats filled with people having more or less the same goals as me, willing to pay the price (supposedly) to see it happen. I have high expectations this time around (I wouldn’t have made the sacrifices if I didn’t) yet the looming threat of disappointment remains the elephant in the room. Have I made the right choices? I can’t second guess them: when made, each was made with the best intentions and the deepest of thought. So theoretically, I have put myself in the situation I need to be in for success.
A lot of people say success is what you make of it. Or put another way, you get back what you put into it. Same difference. But in reality a large portion of your success is 100% in the hands of others. The decisions they make and the paths they choose, help define the situation you are in.
But I can’t help myself. I am so excited for this next chapter I can barely contain myself. For a long time it seemed like I would never have the opportunity, and then when the chips fell just right, time slowed down to a snail’s pace as each interminable day flipped off my Dilbert Desktop Calendar.
Alas, the day is neigh. What seems like an eternity of waiting is almost over. Preparation meets dedication when on May 22, the new Indiana Jones movie hits a theater near you, and I will be at the one near me.
As far as I’m concerned, Harrison Ford is the coolest man alive and has been since before I was born (since Han Solo says me, others may argue for Bob Falfa). Nobody else matches his resume for coolness when you count Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Jack Ryan, Dr. Richard Kimble, etc. Well, at least nobody off the top of my head – and who would do research to prove themselves wrong?

In 2 Fridays, His Coolness (tipping the figurative scales at 2 months shy of 66 by my calculations) dons the whip and Herbert Johnson hat once more, almost 20 years since The Last Crusade. Some think the movie will act as a torch passing to newcomer Shia LaBeouf. (Rumor has it the torch was primed and ready to be handed to Ben Affleck some time ago, before the Bennifer & Gigli debacles and no one wanted to see Ben on the big screen again). Others are cringing at the though of another of their childhood favorites being ravaged by the Hollywood sequel machine.
Either way I don’t care. I just want to see Indy on the screen one more time, and enjoy the movie like I have the first three.
Wait, did I start writing this to talk about Indiana Jones or the fact that I’m going back to work on Monday for my summer internship? Who knows. Indy is definitely cooler though, so I’m glad it went that way…
*cue Indy theme music*
Da-da-da-daaaaa, da-da-daaaa

Hee. I heart Indy too. We’ll definitely be seeing this in the theatres. Maybe not first day, but we’ll still be there. Have fun (at the movie and your internship!!)
I totally agree! We watched Raiders of the Lost Ark last night on whatever channel it was on, and enjoyed it as much as the first time. I love Harrison Ford in all of his movies, but I think Indy is the best part for him - I will be watching it in a theater near me as well (but maybe not till Saturday, we like the cheap showtimes).
Our hero returns - and Indiana Jones too. Glad your exams are over (at least for now) and things can get back to “normal” whatever that is in the hectic life we all lead these days. Good to have you back! ~chris
Oh girl! I am right there with you. When Raiders of the Lost ARk came out, I probably saw it about 13 times (in the theatre at full price…but that was a lot less than full price now). I own the three movies and have talked my twin sons into having an Indiana Jones birthday party (despite the fact that they actually turned 11 yesterday…who’s the bad one?:)on the 23rd so we will be taking a group of 11 year old boys to see the movie. Ah the anticipation!

Well put, old chap! Keith and I just got back from seeing “Iron Man”. Also a good flick. I was dancing in my chair when the trailer for the new Indie movie began to play. Looking forward to May 22nd!
First let me say I really enjoy you blog and your crafts…Second, good luck and congrats on the job…Third I SO LOVE HARRISON FORD TOO…I never NEVER go to a movie on the first day it opens…but this time I told DH that I had to. I am glad I am not alone.
I finally figured out the this post was by Tony…I have been visiting Jen’s blog for a while now, admiring the card designs. Jen, you are an inspiration. But today, the inspiration came from Tony.
I am just completing my second year of law school. As a non-traditional (old) student I am so nervous about my internship this summer. I am not the typical 20-something, intense, and idealistic law student. I’m a mid-30’s mom who just wants to help people by solving their legal problems, not conquering the world.
Walking in the first time is probably the most difficult part of any job, but you’re a professional, you can do *anything* for a 15 minutes, right?
Thanks for sharing your apprehension and excitement! Wishing you the best of luck tomorrow.
I am glad your exams are a thing of the past, and I really did not expect your ranting to go in the direction it did !! I am in college and was eagerly waiting to hear something I *thought* I should hear, or know, or not need to know about college!LOL! I did love Indie as a little girl… I was born in ‘77 so I was young when it came out.I was totally thinking he was so cute and dangerous. Geesh. Have a great evening!
Hey - we are at Disney World this week, and saw the Indiana Jones stunt double show at Hollywood (MGM) Studios yesterday. It was cool. We got to see a Harrison Ford double…hmmm, nothing like the real thing, baby…
Can’t wait to see that next movie, either.
So true and so funny, you had me confused for a while. Hubby has been bugging me for a while about when it is going to be in the theaters and how he HAS to see it in the theater because it just wouldn’t be the same otherwise. I tend to agree, there are just some movies that require the theater.
My Hubby and I are so excited about the new release of Indiana Jones!
We have been having a weekly movie night for the last two Tuesday watching the other Indy movies. We watch the Last Crusade this week. Next week we will be heading to the theaters along with our movie watching buddies to catch the release of the new one! I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I CAN’T WAIT!!
I hope it lives up to the hype

Such a funny guy… As always! Hope everyone feels better soon!
At first I thought it was Jen writing.
I’m so glad it was a Tony day.
YAY
Glad your Finals are over. Have fun at your Internship… and Yay for Harrison Ford.
em
I lvoe Harrison Ford also! He is one of my favs!! I can’t wait for the movie. I will be bringing my kids with me so I have already decided to rent the earlier movies so they can get in to the grove with me. I did the same of Star wars. I am also having a Sex in the City party for that movie opening. Me and 10 gals are getting dressed up and having cosmos and appitizers before the show!!
My youngest has been running around the house humming that music for weeks now. (although I think he’s more excited about the Indiana Jones Legos video game than the movie, lol!)
