Making Scalloped Cards With Nestabilities Dies…
Oct 25th, 2007 by Jen
In the world of papercrafting there always seems to be “the next biggest thing.” Last year it was the Cuttlebug, Copic markers have been on everyone’s wish lists lately and now there are Nestabilities. If you would like to read more about Nestabilities, Sharon Harnist recently did a WONDERFUL article about them on Craft Critique and you can read it HERE. I recently received the scallop and straight edge squares and circles, and while I have not had a lot of time to play with them, I did discover something cool that you can do. You can make your very own scalloped cards. To do this, I made a 4.25″ square card. I then lined up the folded edge of the card to the edge of the cutting part of the die {see pic}. Next I ran it through my Cuttlebug once and then trimmed the part that was cut {these dies do not cut through several sheets like the Cuttlebug or Sizzix dies}. I lined it up exactly as before and ran it through again and then tore away the excess. I did have to do a little trimming with my scissors. I account that to the learning curve that I am on with these. Finally, I decorated the front of my card and viola!… a cute little scalloped card.
Line it up like this, so that your fold does not get cut.

Decorate and send to someone special…

I’ll have some more Nestabilities fun here tomorrow.
Dimensions: 4.25″ square {before die cut}

I love those images! I am such a fan of cupcakes. You did a great job with the Nestabilities. Uber cute!!
Aren’t you a clever little genius! I love your card. I only have the circles, but I’m going to have to give this a try.
Adorable card and great idea! I’m still drooling for these Nestabilities…I’m just about ready to take the plunge and order them.
My square Nestabilities have arrived! And I have been waiting to do this. It’s so cute. And your card is awesome. Too bad I probably won’t have time to play for quite a while.
After Sharon demoed that to a small group of us in Portland, I ordered them as soon as I get home. She cut both front and back at once though. I tried it at home and it did cut both for me as well!
I am so excited about these die cuts!
Your card is adorable!
