Sites of the week

In the past I have been in charge of the inspiration challenges for TCP Tuesday, but we switched around some things and now I am doing the color challenge. So, I am your Hipster Hostess with the Mostess today and I am bringing on the challenge of using red, dark green and sky blue.

I am just loving these colors together! Here is my sample…

I decided to reorganize my studio AGAIN! Well, it’s not a full tear down and build it up, but there were some spots that were getting OUT OF CONTROL and I have put a little bit more control into those areas. I need to go get a couple more storage compartments and sort through some stuff that I have available for publication, but other than that I am feeling relieved! So relieved that I actually was excited to get back in here and stamp again! YAY!

Today is TCP Tuesday and the challenge is to use any cake image. MMMMM…cake! How could I resist that!?! Speaking of irresistible cake…we went out to dinner at Chili’s the other night and the Molten Chocolate Cake called out to me and I gave in. Fortunately, Tony and Ellie helped. Although, I still think that I am the one that did the most damage. Let’s just say I will be hitting the gym a little harder this week! Anywhoooo…onto the task at hand, TCP Tuesday. It is CHILLY here in North Texas. A cold front came through on Sunday/Monday night and the temps dropped…quickly. Now, I know that many people will not take pity on us here, but trust me…I am COLD! I used that inspiration to create my card for today’s TCP Tuesday challenge. This week Leigh has another fab sketch. The end of this post has all the TCP Tuesday deets.

Here’s my take on it using Cranberry Crisp, Basic Black, Kraft and PTI Vintage Cream with Cosmo Cricket DP…

I wanted to take a minute and show you some of the details. First, I used two different kinds of ribbon. The ribbon that goes all the way around is a grosgrain and then I tied two separate strips of organdy ribbon into the knot. To give the card some extra texture, I took my heat gun and “curled” {melt} the organdy. Be VERY careful when you try this! The ribbon will melt very quickly and sometimes it gets holes in it or it can catch fire. Nope, that hasn’t happened to me, but I have come close a time or two.

Second, when using an embossing folder, you don’t have to embossed the entire panel. I have used this idea/technique/whatever the heck you want to call it a number of times and each time I get responses that read, “I would have never thought to use it that way.” By no means is this an original idea, but rather just a little something to tuck away in your idea book.

Before I dive into the meat of this post, I just want to say that Austin was great. I had a wonderful time hanging out with my brother and his family. {Pics to come} I didn’t stay for the entire swap on Saturday, but really enjoyed meeting new people and seeing “old” friends.

I know that I have mentioned it in the past, so I am sorry if I sound like a broken record. Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. I am not that much of a fan of getting dressed up or doing the whole Halloween party thing. Over the last few years, I have become increasingly more interested in Halloween. I LOVE Halloween images and all things Halloween-y when it comes to paper, embellishments and all other things stamping and paper crafting related. I am also VERY excited for Ellie and her Halloween experiences. She already has her costume and Grandmama is flying out for that weekend. It should be great fun! Of course there will be pics, so stay tuned!

First, thank you all for you well wish in regards to my toe. If those pics grossed you out, you certainly don’t want to see what it looks like now! So, how many people do you know can say that they broke their little toe and Little Gym? Man, do I feel silly!! LOL! Bonnie Sharp also pointed out what long toes I have. LOL!! Yep, I sure do. I can pick up just about anything without having to bend down! As if you needed more random tidbits of info about me. LOL!
