Did You See and More To See…

Posted by Jen | Glue, MFT, cards, events, projects | Wednesday, June 4, 2008

Happy Hump Day! Today is the first day of Ellie’s Wiggles and Tunes class. I am totally looking forward to it! One of her little friends is going to be in there, too. I am going to try to take pics, but it’s a Mommy and Me class, so I’m not sure how that is going to work. LOL!

I guess everyone is liking my sketches! Today I checked the sketch challenge on SCS and there was one of the sketches I did in April. You can see my post HERE. It’s fun to see everyone’s take on it. I hope to get to play again a little later today….Laundry, what laundry!??!

Also, have you picked up the latest Take Ten issue? The “We Challenge You” sketch is also one of my cards/sketches {page 26}. Let me know if you send in a submission to them. I can’t wait to see everyone’s cards in print!!!

As you may know, My Favorite Things is releasing several new stamp sets tonight! Be sure to join us HERE for the release party from 9-11 EST. It is a very exciting release for MFT, as we are presenting a new line of stamps. Here is a message from MFT…

My Favorite Things is pleased and proud to introduce you to our brand-spankin’ new line, My Favorite Things Presents! My Favorite Things Presents opens the door for us to work with new Illustrators and continue to offer images that are “Fresh, Fun and Completely Distinctive!” This spin-off brand will begin by offering images from artist Annie LaPointe, being introduced over the next few months. Other Illustrators, as *need* arises, will be added as we find artists and styles we feel would translate well into the stamp world and as we see a niche we can uniquely fill. My Favorite Things original brand will continue to be drawn by the irreplaceable Christy Beckwith, whose style has so completely captured our hearts.

Here a couple creations using this GORGEOUS new line…

This uses a tray from GLUE. I love how these turn into home decor so quickly and easily!

Here are a couple projects using the Congrats all Around set. I’m such a sucker for baby projects!! The tag was made by taking 2 scallop circle punches and adhering them together after scoring the back piece about 1/2″ in. I used the SU! Word Window punch to create a loop to string the ball/chain thread through.

Up close on the tag…

Here’s the card. I did not finish the inside, but I think that it would make a great shower, new baby or announcement.

Again, I hope that you will join us at the release party tonight! It’s a lot of fun and everyone is welcome. There will be more projects to see, some announcements and a few challenges. Have a great day!!

Start Of A HUGE Week…

Posted by Jen | MFT, cards, projects | Monday, June 2, 2008

Last week and over the weekend I got rockin’ and rollin’ on a BUNCH of stuff. Let’s just say that between now and Saturday I have more than 15 things to show you! YAY! I’m considering a tutorial for Friday, and I may just have to end the week with a blog tart, too! ;) wink wink…you probably want to be here on Saturday!
Today I am sharing a whole bunch of My Favorite Things projects. There is a new release on Wednesday and I promise it will be one like never before. It really is my favorite MFT release of all time. No joke!! I can’t share any “real” details today, but you will want to keep your eyes and ears peeled come hump day! Today I am sharing projects from the “Here’s the Scoop” and “What’s Up Cupcake?” sets. As always {ok, most of the time} I am gonna cut the yipyap and get to showing the goods…

Oh yea, first, you might want to know that Kim is giving you a chance to win all of the releases HERE.

First, I have a matching ice cream party invitation and kit. Are you thinking that these are odd colors for ice cream? ME TOO!! I found this paper {at Michael’s} and started using it before I realized that matching the ice cream scoops would mean inventing some new flavor combos! I’m sure everyone loves orange sherbet and pisatachio ice cream together…mmm mmm mmm!

ABC Friday~Sweet Baby Decor

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, projects | Friday, May 30, 2008

Welcome to another installment of ABC {anything but a card} Friday. I {heart} making baby stuff. I go into the baby section of any and all stores to be inspired. What’s “funny” is that I wouldn’t consider myself a “baby person.” Don’t get me wrong, I love my own, but I don’t go all goo-goo when I see any lil’ darling. However, baby stuff…I go goo-goo for! Especially baby girl stuff. I wonder why in the world I am partial to girly girl stuff…LOL!

Yesterday I was sorting through all my alterables. When I say “all,” you can imagine me under a pile of tins, baskets, paper mache boxes and bags and anything else I can imagine will sit still long enough for me to alter. I pulled out this round paper mache wall hanging. Without getting out my ruler, I would say it’s about 6 inches in diameter. I used K & Co. paper, chipboard letters and stickers that I found at Michael’s {oh, how I miss Recollections!!}. The ribbon is Martha Stewart seam binding ribbon. I love this stuff and I love how perfect this color went with the K & Co. products I used.
The picture is of the project hanging from a door knob, but I think it would look great hanging on a wall, as well. Fortunately, I have a couple of friends that are expecting and this will easily find a new home. I’ll be back tomorrow for a “special edition” of the Sketch For You To Try, and don’t worry, it’s much easier than last week’s! Also, guess what Sunday is? Give up? It’s the first Sunday of the month, so Tony will be blogging here. {YAY!}

ABC Friday~Teacher Gift Ensemble And A Serious Enabler Alert…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, PaperTrey, Verve, cards, projects | Friday, May 23, 2008

TGIF! So how many of you raced out to see the new Indy movie already? Tony is going today with one of his buddies. I told him that I can either go see it with him again or catch it on DVD. I didn’t watch a whole lot of movies when I was a kid, so the thrill and excitement of this is all going past me pretty much. HOWEVER, I do plan to go see the new Sex & The City movie!!
Today I have a whole gift set to show you. Ellie goes to a little Mom’s Day Out program and they let out for summer {BOO!} next week. Her “teachers” have been so incredibly sweet and I wanted to do a little something for them. I combined the new Petals and Stems set from Verve Visual with PaperTrey Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush and Spring Moss colors. I also used their new Kraft paper. I really like the weight of this Kraft cardstock, although it seems to have a lot more visible fibers than the SU! Kraft.

Here’s a pic of the everything…
teachergiftset_all.jpg

It all started with the card I made. I just took the design elements from the card and incorporated it in with the other stuff. The sentiment on this card is from the Set Thankful Blossoms from Verve.

I made a small genie bag with matching tissue paper to put all the goodies in…

Post-It note holder {with velcro closure} with a matching pen..

Glassine envie {medium size} with 4 Ghirardelli chocolate squares…

Luggage bag tag with PaperTrey ribbon…

The scalloped rectangle is a Nestabilities die and letter is cut from the Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet. These are so easy to make!! You can get a package of badge holders in the office supply section of Wal-Mart and you can punch a couple of extra holes in the top to tie lots of ribbon to. The binder ring is also from the Wal-Mart office supply section, and it makes the perfect “clip.”

So, do you want to be seriously enabled?? Check out the new Cuttlebug stuff HERE!

Necklace Stand or Scrappy Project?

Posted by Jen | Glue, projects | Friday, May 16, 2008

When I first got the blank necklace stand from GLUE, I knew that it wasn’t going to be a necklace stand when I got done with it. First, I am not a jewelery person. Never have been, and most likely never will be, so I don’t have a lot of necklaces to display on this. However, I do have about 5,000 {give or take a few} pictures of Ellie that I could put on here. So, there was my inspiration…pics of Ellie. Last November we went to Arizona to visit my parents and I go several pics of Ellie watering the flowers {something that she became quickly obsessed with}. I took out my Basic Gray chipboard letters and fiddled until I came up with something that both fit the picture and fit inside my work space. Viola, this is what I came up with…
lovegrows.jpg
The flowers were created with coaster cut with a Cuttlebug die and covered in DP. The chipboard at the top is not from Basic Gray, but rather something that I picked up at JoAnn’s on sale and I can’t remember the brand {sorry!}.
I must admit that this actually wasn’t the first {or only} idea that I had for this stand. Here are a few more things that you could do with it that I came up with…
1. Decorate and use as a necklace stand {who woulda thunk?}
2. Use it as a recipe holder. The phrase “Kiss The Cook” comes to mind.
3. Cover it with chalkboard paint and use it as a message board.
4. Mod Podge some pretty paper on it and criss-cross some ribbons to make it place to put notes and pictures.
5. Make it a clock.
6. Decorate with a mirror for a make-up table.
…get my point? You could do just about anything!

Some of the Glue DT members got this stand to work with this month, and others got a cute 3×3 stand. Be sure to check out the eye candy that they have for you on their blogs.

See ya’ll tomorrow with another Sketch For You To Try! You’ll have to be sure to check up on Shannan to make sure that she does this one right. ;)
