It’s Almost World Card Making Day, But For Today It’s ABC Friday…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, MFT, projects | Friday, October 3, 2008

Tomorrow is World Card Making Day! HERE is more info about this special day. Of course I will have a Sketch For You To Try and each participant will be entered into a drawing for a special edition magazine from Paper Crafts and I might just have to sweeten the pot a bit with some MFT goodies!

As for today, I want to share with you one more project that I did for the My Favorite Things release. This image, as well as all the like images previously released, are from artist Annie LaPoint. With this particular stamp, I created a plant stick/garden marker/whatever you want to call it.

Detail shot of the pot, which is paper pieced and covered with Diamond Glaze…

You can see more samples from the release HERE at SCS. See you manana!

ABC Friday ~ Lookie What I Made x 2!…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Bella, The Cat's Pajamas, projects | Friday, September 26, 2008

A few weeks ago I was asked if I wanted to participate in the Bella Blog Hop, Skip and Jump. I love Emily and all that Bella offers, so it was pretty much a no brainer! Our challenge was to create a holiday treat holder. No one ever said which holiday, so I went with Halloween. I chose to do one of Jody’s Boxy-Bags {genius coming up with this cute lil’ template, I tell ya!!}. I chose Little Witchy for my image and colored her in with my Copics. I am lovin’ the new bat punch from Martha Stewart and punched them out in black and then covered them with black Stickles. The charm at the top is actually a bat jingle bell that I picked up at Wal-Mart last year.

I picked up the black and white candy at Target. They are like skull and bone runts that taste all fruity!

Be sure to check out the other gals playing along in the Bella Blog Hop, Skip and Jump…

Last, but certainly not least, I have one of the coolest things I have ever done in stamping to show you! I have been sitting on this project for weeks and I am so excited that I **finally**get to show you!! It’s a stamp on a cookie!! Are you rolling your eyes at me? LOL! Well, I had fun doing it and am proud to show it off. But first, the outside of the wooden bag that it is in…

Detail shot…

The cookie fresh out of the oven…

In a cello bag with a cute little tag…

That cute little tag that I just mentioned…

How did I do it? I put a Pillsbury sugar dough roll in the freezer for about 30-45 minutes, so I when I sliced through, it would be hard. I then stamped on the cookie with Brilliance Graphite Black ink and cooked per the instructions on the cookie dough packaging. Is it safe? Well, the ink pad says Non-toxic, but I wouldn’t go off and eat dozens of these. Apparently one won’t hurt. I’ve been told that I have always been this strange and it not a side effect of eating inky cookies. ;) Head on over to the TCP site to see the three new Clearly Swanky sets just released!

I think that this is one of my fave posts ever. I hope you enjoyed it, too. Tomorrow is Tony’s and my 5th anniversary. I made my Sketch For You To Try card special for him. See ya then!

If You’ve Got It, Haunt It & Then Some…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, projects | Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Hey all! I have a few things to show you today. First, it’s TCP Tuesday and I am just itchin’ to show you the card that I made for this challenge {I’ll get to that in a sec}. Suzanne Dean’s card in THIS post was one of the points of inspiration. I {HEART} her circles with the bats, so I gave it go. I started with the Sketch For You To Try for this week, but as you can see, it didn’t quite end up like that. Oh, well!

The challenge for this week is to use any Sprinkle stamp. If you don’t know, Sprinkle is THE cat in The Cat’s Pajamas line of stamps. She was once Alma’s real kitty, but has since passed on. Rest In Peace, Sprinkle. We are left with her spirit and Alma’s wonderful talent for putting her into any and every situation possible. Here is Sprinkle all wrapped up as a mummy {Mummy Sprinkle} for Halloween.

tcptues25.jpg

The Halloween paper is from last year’s Stampin’ Up! catalog. I found this last remaining piece, at least I think it’s the last one, in my stash. Both the Mummy Sprinkle image and the sentiment are from The Cat’s Pajamas. The bats are one of many fab new punches from Martha Stewart, and they are covered with black Stickles . I used orange grosgrain and black organdy heated with a heat gun as part of my finishing touches, as well as the brads that flank the sentiment.

EVERYONE can play and this is what you are gonna wanna know…
1. Each a week one of the The Cat’s Pajamas DT Members will host a challenge.
2. The challenges will vary {stamp, color, theme/inspiration, sketch, etc.}
3. You will have until {this} Saturday night to complete the challenge.
4. Link your project on this week’s hostess’ challenge announcement. This week you will link your project on TONI’s TCP Tuesday Post.
5. TCP stamps are not required, but of course, highly encouraged. {Unless it is a challenge calling for a specific stamp}
6. There will be one winner each month. They will be deemed that month’s Swankiest Stamper and get $25 in Cat’s Cash {money to spend on the TCP site!}.
7. When uploading to SCS, please use the keyword TCPTUES26 for this challenge.
8. Alma will post the entries from the week the following Monday on her blog.
9. The newly crowned Swanky Stamper will be announced on the First of the Month and have his/her winning entry posted on The Cat’s Pajamas website where he/she will reign for the entire month.
10. Oh yea…HAVE FUN!

AND THEN SOME…

Well, it’s that time again…time for another NEW RELEASE FROM TCP!! On Friday, September 26, THREE {count ‘em 1, 2, 3} new Clearly Swanky Sets are gonna be ready for you to gobble up! What’s even cooler than 3 sets being released, is 3 sets being released for only $39 {15 buckaroonies off the regular price}. Here are a couple sneak peeks. My favorite project is coming on Friday! I promise it’s worth the wait!

Here’s a scrap page I made {gasp, yes I did a scrap page!} using the new, Frightful Night, set…

That’s all for today. I have bunches more to show this week and I am working on a bunch more things to show you soon!! Happy stamping!

ABC Friday ~ Little Pumpkin…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, PaperTrey, projects | Friday, September 19, 2008

Happy Friday y’all! It feels like fall is coming up on us here in Texas. The mornings are cool and the evenings are warm. It’s a dangerous combination for those allergy sufferers…just ask Susan! Today we are going to enjoy the cool morning and head out to the zoo and hopefully catch a glimpse of the 3 new lion cubs. Maybe this time the white tiger will have finished his breakfast, too. Last time he was still enjoying his white rabbit…eeewww!!
Today I have a fun little project that I know that you are gonna want to try! It’s a little pumpkin! This idea was adapted from an ornament idea in a Making Memories book.
littlepumpkin.jpg

To create the pumpkin shape (or ornament, etc)…
*Note that these instructions to not account for the spiral pieces, sentiment panel {Papertrey Ink shown) or leaf punch.

1. Cut 10 pieces of orange paper 1/2″ x 4″
2. Stack together and punch a hole through all pieces at the top and bottom.
3. Adhere pieces with brads through the holes.
4. To create the round shape, spread out each piece of paper.

pssst…you can fill it with little candies, too!

Happy pumpkin making! {a little less messy than your usual carvings, I bet!}

Stamp A Sweet Impression Stamps Released…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, Taylored Expressions/Stamp A Sweet Impression, cards, projects | Thursday, September 4, 2008

Hip Hip Hooray!…It’s ABC Friday and Taylor’s stamp line, Stamp A Sweet Impression, has finally arrived!

The stamps can be purchased on the Taylored Expressions site. More info about the sets and the Design Team can be found on Taylor’s blog.

As I promised, I have a couple more things to show you. A couple weeks ago I showed you THIS Coffee Lover’s Set. Taylor contacted me in regards to making a Cupcake Lover’s Kit, and of course I got right on it. So here it is…

cupcakeloverskit.jpg

It is made with many of the Essential Ingredients {fun kits with paper, glitter, brads and ribbon}, and the cupcake stamp is from the Sweet Celebration set. Each of the tubes is filled sprinkles and nuts.

Even though it’s ABC Friday, I do have one card to show you. This shaker card took me FOREVER to make {don’t roll your eyes!!}. I had an idea in my head and it didn’t “take” the way that I thought it would. While the card itself is not my favorite, it does show off the cutie patootie images {and that sentiment cracks me up!}…
