Sites of the week

Wow, did we get some snow here in North Texas this week! I shoveled snow for the first time in my life and made a snowman that was actually of substantial size…for North Texas, at least. Here’s a pic of our dogs, Cooper and Abby, playing in the snow…

4. You can enter as many times as you like, but must upload each creation separately. All entries should be posted to your blog or online gallery, as well. Please use the keyword “SFYTT” for all online galleries.
5. All participants will also be considered for next month’s Designer of the Month, as well.

Ever hear the phrase, “Kids say the darnest things!”? I swear I am living that here at my house. You might recall this story of Ellie telling me that princesses don’t wear pants. Since then it has been brought up just about every day. I finally convinced her to wear “princess pants” which are leggings with lace at the bottom. For now that seems to be working. No one better ruin that for me! LOL! So the other day she is asking, “How do you spell CAT,” “How do you spell DOG,” and then she comes up with… “How do you spell PRINCESS….WITH NO PANTS!” Seriously people, I cannot make this stuff up. It’s just “Classic Ellie” {check out the SNL sketch with Justin Timberlake HERE to understand what I mean by that}.

Now that you have gotten your daily {ok, maybe not so daily lately} dose of Ellie-isms, it’s time to get the the sketch. I think it’s a pretty easy one and I hope that you will have fun with it!…

Here’s my version using newbie My Favorite Things stamps. I absolutely ADORE the Pure Innocence line of stamps! This is my first time playing with them and I am pretty sure that they will become a staple stamp purchase for months {years?} to come…

I mentioned the other day that I am desperate to stamp “just because.” Well, yesterday I did it! I got some new MFT stamps that I recently ordered and I wasn’t about to let them collect any dust, so I got crackin’ and made this card {can you tell I am in a Halloween-y mood?}…

A couple of detail shots…

If some of you are scratching your head saying “Didn’t you used to design for them and don’t you do pub work for them?”…you are right. I just did this card out of the blue, though. No pub call, no submission request, no…nothing! Can you tell I feel a little liberated. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE being on DTs and it really doesn’t seem like “work,” but I have done it with all my heart for so long that I actually think that I forgot the “just because” stuff. It feels good. What’s even better, I really like how this card came out

As for the deets…
I started off with a 5 x 5 base created from PTI Vintage Cream cardstock and then layered it with Bo Bunny orange on orange polkas matted with black. That panel and the main image panel have stitching around all four edges. The main image panels’ edges are also sponged {before I stitched}. The 2 big clouds and the girl, both from the Too Cute To Spook set, are popped up on dimensionals from Jody. The sentiment panel is Prism Intense Kiwi and is punched with a border punch from EK Success {gotta love those Michael’s coupons!}. As for my finishing touches, I added Taylor’s Tiny Twinkles rhinestones, punched stars and a PTI button with twine tied in a bow on the back side {love the way that looks!}.

On a side note, I want to thank everyone that supported me on THIS POST about not supporting the SU! changes. Even if you don’t…that’s OK!! I appreciate that we all can have different opinions on the subject. I know that some demos don’t believe that it is anyone’s business what is happening on the demo side. I have to disagree. Just think of any company out there. Don’t you want to know what their practices are and don’t you want to support those that you agree with? There are other companies within this industry {which will remain unnamed} that I don’t agree with either. Guess what?…they don’t get my business. If you want to think of it like politics, I guess that is kinda what it’s like. Some get my vote, some {very few} don’t. Let’s just keep this a happy and friendly industry to play in!
Several of you have emailed me personally and I have not had time to respond to each one. I have read all of them, though. I cringe every time I open an email titled “SU changes” or the like, out of fear that I am going to get a brutal lashing. So far, no lashings. …thank you!

Happy Saturday! Today is a busy busy day! I will be teaching at Scrapper’s Boutique today while Tony and Ellie have a father/daughter day of fun!! Of course, since it’s Saturday I have another Sketch For You To Try…

There aren’t a lot of samples for this sketch. I will get to that later, but for now here is the sketch…

First, I don’t have a sample as of yet. It just didn’t come together with prep for my classes today. However, I do hope to bring one to you tomorrow or Monday. Sorry gals!!

Anyone else loathing the summer heat? I can’t imagine that my pregnancy is making it any easier for me, but I am miserable. Then again, the heat index has been hovering over 100 degrees, so I don’t see how it could be very enjoyable. I don’t live in Arizona {anymore}, so I can’t hear, “Well, at least it’s a dry heat.” Nope, here in TX it’s a wet, soggy, humid heat…moist, if you will {I know a lot people squirm at that word, so that just seems appropriate}. Backing up to the “It’s a dry heat” comment. David Spade really said it best in a comedy routine when he replied to that comment with, “Well, so is my oven, but you don’t see me crawling in there.” Point made.

What I am thrilled about is that it is Saturday. I have another Copic class today and of course, a new SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY…
