Sketch For You To Try…

Happy {football season} Saturday! I am happy that football season is here. We have plans to have a couple friends and their kiddos over tonight to watch the Oklahoma game {no comments from the peanut gallery on last week’s performance, please!}. BOOMER SOONER! Ellie is learning early to love the Sooners and dislike the Longhorns. Whenever she sees a longhorn on someone’s car, she says “Ewwww, gross, it’s a longhorn.” We have told her that she is not allowed to say that to people, though. Instead she just says, “Boomer Sooner” to them. The grocery store sells both Sooner and Longhorn gear and they happen to be right next to each other and she likes to remind me, “Mama, don’t touch that orange stuff!” LOL! She cracks me up!

It’s been a super busy week! I am working at the preschool and now at the local scrapbook store. Yes, I am a bit crazy taking on both of these ventures in the 2nd half of my pregnancy. Fortunately, both a very lenient employers and neither is a terribly stressful job. There was a crazy moment in my preschool class on Thursday where one of the boys decided to inspect his business in the middle of class. The words couldn’t come fast enough…”Put it back!” LOL! Oh my, these kids are prepping me for baby boy del Muro!! BTW…we are still trying to figure out a name and welcome any {well, most…LOL!} suggestions. We both like more “regular” names as opposed to the trendy names {like all those ending in -den these days}. Ellie had her 3 year well check this past week, too. We have to get a Physical Therapy evaluation later this month to check on her lack jumping “skills” and some general clumsiness. Poor kid! The doc said that clumsiness can be genetic {I had to giggle at that!, and even though I wouldn’t consider either Tony or I graceful, I wouldn’t go as far as clumsy. We’ll see what the PT has to say. I don’t think that it’s anything major. The pedatrician even said that it doesn’t necessarily seem like anything is wrong, but something isn’t quite right. Grrrrrreat! I guess it could be worse though! On top of that, she has an umbilical hernia that may need to be corrected in the next couple of years if it doesn’t go back in on it’s own. Poor baby!!

Blah, blah blah…I need to get on with the sketchy-sketch post! Here is the sketch for this week…

TCP Tuesday on Wednesday…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Wednesday, September 9, 2009

I finally had a few free moments to stamp this morning. I knew I wanted to play along with the sketch challenge that Leigh has for TCP Tuesday, so I broke my TCP Halloween set {Fright Night} and got to “work.” Here is the sketch that Leigh created…

The gingham paper is part of the goodies that I picked up this past weekend while on a little shopping adventure. It’s by Reminisce from their Autumn Forest line. This is actually the reverse side of a 12 x 12 sheet that has really cute pears on the other side. The buttons are all from TCP’s embellishment line and can be found HERE. Another sample, along with all the TCP Tuesday deets can be found on Leigh’s blog. Happy stamping and good luck!

Birthday Bash Sketch and New Designer of the Month…

Create avatar

WOWZAS! There is a lot going on here today. It’s the first Saturday of the month, so I have a new Designer of the Month to announce and it’s also the Taylored Expressions 1 year Birthday Bash! I just have to say how happy I am for Taylor for making her dream come true. Now it’s one wonderful year later…way to go, Taylor!

Let’s start at the Designer of the Month biz-ness…

Please welcome the wonderful and talented Gretchen Belknap of Happiness Is…

A little about Gretchen in her own words…
I was so shocked to get an email from Jen, one of my “stamping idols”,
asking me to be her September guest designer for a Sketch For You To
Try! I love her sketches and participate often because layouts seem to
be my weakness. I jumped out of my chair and gave a little squeal! Me,
really?! Woo Hoo! So here I am honored to be asked and in such great
company!

I am a SAHM of 4 school aged children and a daycare provider for
preschoolers during the school year. I have been stamping for over 10
years now- mostly making scrapbooks for my kids- but when I discovered
SCS and the blog world in 2007, my whole love of stamping got a much
needed jump start! I have met some fabulous “cyber friends” and even a
few IRL. I love this hobby and I am so excited to share my creations
with you!

Here’s this week’s sketch…

TCP Tuesday~Halloween Style…

Posted by Jen | The Cat's Pajamas, cards, challenges | Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Greetings! Sorry I never got around to making a sample for last week’s SFYTT. I hate when people say “I’ve been so busy,” so I won’t even go there. It just didn’t get done because other things did. Such is life, right? This week I am hosting TCP Tuesday and I have a great challenge for you. Break out those TCP Halloween stamps and create a card or project. All deets are below, but to sum it up…play for a chance to win some serious bucks to spend in the TCP store {stamps, buttons and glitter…oh my!}.

Here’s my oh-so-spooky sample {at least I got one sample done this week, right?…LOL!}…
happyhalloweenwitchy1

As for the card deets…
I began by stamping the images from The Cat’s Pajamas on a Kraft card base and coloring them with my Copics. The DP is from the Halloween stack from DCWV {Die Cuts With a View}. In addition the Kraft cardstock, I also used Summer Sunrise from Papertrey and Intense Kiwi from Prism. The fun border punch is from Martha Stewart and is quickly becoming one of my faves. As for the ribbon, that’s from Papertrey, too. I wrapped the flat portion around the Kiwi panel and then created the bow and hot glued it on {yes, seriously!}.

TCP Tuesday deets…
1. Each a week one of the The Cat’s Pajamas DT Members will host a challenge.
2. The challenges will vary {stamp, color, theme/inspiration, sketch, etc.}
3. You will have until {this} Saturday night to complete the challenge.
4. Link your project on this week’s hostess’ challenge announcement. This week you will link your project on the TCP Tuesday post on THIS post.
5. TCP stamps are not required, but of course, highly encouraged. Unless it is a challenge calling for a specific stamp
6. There will be one winner each month. They will be deemed that month’s Swankiest Stamper and get $25 in Cat’s Cash {money to spend on the TCP site!}.
7. When uploading to SCS, please use the keyword TCPTUES74 for this challenge.
8. Alma will post the entries from the week the following Monday on her blog.
9. The newly crowned Swanky Stamper will be announced on the first of the month and have his/her winning entry posted on The Cat’s Pajamas website where he/she will reign for the entire month.
10. Oh yea…HAVE FUN!

Sketch For You To Try…

Happy Saturday! Today is a busy busy day! I will be teaching at Scrapper’s Boutique today while Tony and Ellie have a father/daughter day of fun!! Of course, since it’s Saturday I have another Sketch For You To Try…

There aren’t a lot of samples for this sketch. I will get to that later, but for now here is the sketch…
sfytt082909

First, I don’t have a sample as of yet. It just didn’t come together with prep for my classes today. However, I do hope to bring one to you tomorrow or Monday. Sorry gals!!

Fortunately, the WILDLY TALENTED and SUPER SWEET Megan Lock {this month’s Designer of the Month} came through with this wonderfully sample…

Carole Burrage…is taking a little break, so no samples for a few weeks. Don’t worry she says she will be back :)
Susan Liles…has a very good reason that she does not have a sample done. I’ll let her fill you in on her blog {I assume that she will be blogging her “adventures” of today}.

I would love to see what you create! Be sure to create a link on a comment on this post. If you upload to SCS or PCP, please use the keyword “SFYTT”.
