October Sketch For You to Try + Give Away…

Posted by Jen | Holidays, Market Street Stamps, SFYTT2012, cards, challenges, designer of the month | Saturday, October 13, 2012

Happy Saturday, crafty pals! Do you have fun plans this weekend? I’m going to plant some flowers this morning and I think that we are going to take the kids to a fire station tour tomorrow. Throw in some stamping and some relaxing and we have a great weekend ahead!

I spent a little more time in my new craft room {pics to come, I swear…after every box is gone} and was happy to come up with a fun and {not so} spooky Halloween card using this month’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY {<--link to original October post with all details and upload links}. Of course, I used stamps from this month's awesome sponsor...MARKET STREET STAMPS. Check out the info below for how you can win a set from MSS!

First, here’s the sketch once more…

Here’s my card using SPOOKY SWEETS, FUNKY HERRINGBONE {new!} and MINI FALL-O-WEEN BACKGROUNDS {double stamped/offset to create “shadow”}…

I’m giving away a Funky Herringbone background and Spooky Sweets set to one person. All you have to do is answer:

What is your favorite holiday to create {and/or decorate} for?

As I have mentioned, Halloween is my favorite holiday to create for, with Valentine’s Day a close second. Of course, I love Christmas, too, but it’s just not at the very tip-top of my list. I am interested to see what everyone else likes. Comments/entries accepted until Monday 10/15 at 11pm {CST}. WINNER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. Thanks for the response.

Don’t forget to check out what these SFYTT Sisters have created using this month’s sketch…

I love to create for Christmas - I make all my own cards and gift tags. I make ornaments for a few close friends and family and usually I make a few card sets as gifts for my mom and aunt.

Cute, very cute card! Christmas is my very favorite holiday to create and decorate for!

Such a cute card! Christmas is my favourite holiday to decorate for but Halloween is a close second.

Christmas is my fave… But fall in general is my second favorite!

I feel a bit predictable with my answer here. Christmas is my favorite, but a close second is Halloween. :) Cute card!

Love the card! I like to create for Halloween. I love the spooky color combos and ANYTHING GOES with Halloween. You can be or create anything you want and it all still works. =o D

Hands down, Christmas is my favorite holiday to decorate and create for! Although it could be because I tend to spend a lot more time in the house during that time of year since I really don’t like the cold and snow ;)

Super adorable card! I love Christmas!

I’m with you on Halloween. Every year as a kid my parents turned our yard into something pretty haunting. That fun experience stuck with me and although I don’t have the same space, we have a lot of fun decorating.

I am boring I guess but I am all out for Christmas! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the smells, the baking, the tree, family time, the music… Just everything! Oh, I forgot the presents! I love giving and receiving!

I’m with you on this one, Jen. I love Halloween decorations. And I’m not that into the actual holiday. Hate dealing with costumes, only trick or treat b/c my son would have a fit if we didn’t. But I love crafting with little spooky ghosts and pumpkins and even made a super cute haunted house with tea lights inside last year.

Oh do I love Halloween….love making crafts, cards and goodies for it–decorating with farmstand finds….and the colors are just stunning….so much inspiration all around! Christmas is a close second for me….love decking out the tree, the mantle….it’s more stressful tho….with gifts, decor that is more time consuming, baking, parties, family visits–I don’t seem to be able to find the time to craft as much….I think that’s why I like Halloween/fall so much….it’s so low key! Thanks for the chance to win, Jen….another cute card!!!

Well, as we are talking holidays and not just seasons, I must choose Christmas. There is just so much you can do with it, running the gamut from intricate traditional Christmas creations to funky non-religious winter fun.

I love decorating for Christmas, and that’s actually really the only holiday I do decorate for =)

I guess I’d have to say Christmas… I have SO many Christmas papers, embellishments, stamps, etc., and each year, I love diving back in my stash to see what I have. I love getting ready for craft fairs and stocking my Etsy shop with all of those Christmas card packs! Thanks for the chance to win, your ghost card is super cute!!

First that ghost is just too darn cute!!! And I love the bat background! I love decorating for Christmas and creating for Christmas… I’ve loved since I was a very little girl! Thanks so much for the chance to win some wonderful MSS!!!

Cute card! Love the background and the spider web. Halloween is my fav holiday and I love to create cards to celebrate it. My fav to decorate isn’t a holiday, it’s the fall season. Happily, it coincides with my Halloween decos, too. :)

    What a fun card!
Tough decision- I think fall/Halloween are very close to Christmas for us to enjoy creating & decorating for!! :D
    Thanks for the chance!

This is such a cute card, I especially love that cute little ghost! My favorite holiday to decorate and create for is definately Christmas, maybe because it’s the only one other than July 4th that I always make sure to decorate for! I do love looking at everyone else’s Halloween decorations though, maybe one year I’ll get with it! Thanks for the chance to win!

Halloween is at the top of my list too … so many fun Monstahs (which are then fun for children’s birthdays and other occasions).

  25. Comment by Carol B — October 14, 2012 @ 5:51 pm

I love Halloween! I love making cute and spooky cards and handing out candy to all the adorable little kids tha come to the door. Christmas for me is just so over-rated and stressful. Thanks for the fun giveaway!

  26. Comment by Rosemary D — October 14, 2012 @ 6:13 pm

christmas is my favorite holiday to create for followed by valentines day. i’m not a huge fan of halloween, but getting into it a bit more because my little guy seems to really enjoy it!

  27. Comment by Juliet A — October 14, 2012 @ 7:30 pm

Christmas gets the most attention from me, but to be perfectly honest, I love making valentines and valentine decorations more than anything! Too bad I don’t love anybody;)

  28. Comment by Janet Sisk — October 14, 2012 @ 7:40 pm

Christmas is definitely my favorite holiday to make cards. I am a bit slow on the draw this year, but I will manage to get it done. Thanks for a chance to win some great stamps. :D

  29. Comment by Judy Stiles — October 15, 2012 @ 12:19 am

Christmas is at the top of my list! Love making my Christmas cards and tags for presents! Enjoy putting up my tree and all of the holiday baking!

  30. Comment by Melissa S — October 15, 2012 @ 6:50 am

I love Christmas, but then the pressure to get everything done before Christmas Eve gets to be too much! I like Valentine’s Day because it’s just a fun day to celebrate without the stress :)

  31. Comment by Missy G — October 15, 2012 @ 6:29 pm

Easiest question ever…Halloween of course! I probably have at least 3 times as much Halloween decor as I have for Christmas… I decorate every room in my house, swapping regular decor for creepy haunted house style stuff, and my yard gets a cemetery. My friends and family LOVE it! This card is adorable, that little ghost just looks so huggable!

  32. Comment by Linda Carson — October 15, 2012 @ 8:30 pm

totally too cute! Christmas is my favorite and Halloween comes in second.
