I am cutting out my chit chat so I can go relax and hopefully enjoy this day more than yesterday that went something like this…
Wake up at 5:15 with a sick Nicolas who is super fussy and isn’t getting better after 3 days of antibiotics for an ear infection, possible strep and an upper respiratory infection.
Get Ellie some milk with breakfast which will be “returned” ON me and all over the bathroom. While cleaning this up {now on my hands and feet}, Nicolas comes into the bathroom and slips right in it. Blech!! This was probably the 5th or 6th time cleaning up “returns” since Sunday. My favorite was Nicolas’ in the car and in EVERY crevice of his carseat! Poor babies!!
Call our primary care physician who tells us to go to urgent care with Nicolas to have further tests done. When we get to the one that was recommended we find out they take no insurance at all…nice!! Fortunately, CareNow is right across the street.
CareNow confirms strep, a ear infection that has likely gotten worse since Monday and prescribes a slew of meds and a shot of antibiotics.
While waiting for the nurse to give him the shot, he falls asleep. Let’s just say that was not a pleasant wake up call…at least he had no idea what was coming.
Call primary care physician to get Ellie in because she is now showing other symptoms. Throat culture negative, but they give antibiotics because it’s highly likely that she is carrying it and will get sick.
Drop her back off at home to find out that Nicolas spent some of that time puking more all over Daddy {thank you for coming home early!!}.
Off to the pharmacy where the pharmacist tells me that the doc from CareNow has prescribed too high of a dose for Nicolas. My primary care physician’s office is now closed so I can’t consult with them, but the CareNow doc offers to reduce the dosage, but will not give an explanation to why it was so high.
Home. Kids fed {what they will actually eat} and off to bed.
Now I realize I don’t feel so great. Off to bed after watching The Voice. Woke up feeling just OK, but hoping for a better day to make me feel better!
Whew…thanks for listening!
