Yep, that’s the same image that Amy Rohl used on last week’s paper pleating tutorial over on Splitcoast. You can see that HERE.

I am cutting out my chit chat so I can go relax and hopefully enjoy this day more than yesterday that went something like this…
Wake up at 5:15 with a sick Nicolas who is super fussy and isn’t getting better after 3 days of antibiotics for an ear infection, possible strep and an upper respiratory infection.
Get Ellie some milk with breakfast which will be “returned” ON me and all over the bathroom. While cleaning this up {now on my hands and feet}, Nicolas comes into the bathroom and slips right in it. Blech!! This was probably the 5th or 6th time cleaning up “returns” since Sunday. My favorite was Nicolas’ in the car and in EVERY crevice of his carseat! Poor babies!!
Call our primary care physician who tells us to go to urgent care with Nicolas to have further tests done. When we get to the one that was recommended we find out they take no insurance at all…nice!! Fortunately, CareNow is right across the street.
CareNow confirms strep, a ear infection that has likely gotten worse since Monday and prescribes a slew of meds and a shot of antibiotics.
While waiting for the nurse to give him the shot, he falls asleep. Let’s just say that was not a pleasant wake up call…at least he had no idea what was coming.
Call primary care physician to get Ellie in because she is now showing other symptoms. Throat culture negative, but they give antibiotics because it’s highly likely that she is carrying it and will get sick.
Drop her back off at home to find out that Nicolas spent some of that time puking more all over Daddy {thank you for coming home early!!}.
Off to the pharmacy where the pharmacist tells me that the doc from CareNow has prescribed too high of a dose for Nicolas. My primary care physician’s office is now closed so I can’t consult with them, but the CareNow doc offers to reduce the dosage, but will not give an explanation to why it was so high.
Home. Kids fed {what they will actually eat} and off to bed.
Now I realize I don’t feel so great. Off to bed after watching The Voice. Woke up feeling just OK, but hoping for a better day to make me feel better!
Whew…thanks for listening!

I gotta make this super short and sweet. I have 2 kiddos that aren’t feeling well. Nicolas has had a fever for 4 days and Ellie woke up not feeling so hot this morning {crossing my fingers it’s sympathy “pains”). This is not how I intended to spend summer vacation! My kiddos need to get better so they can have all the fun we have planned!

Be sure to check out all the sneak peeks that the DT has for you! You can see a full list of peekers on Alma’s blog HERE. Also, do you love PJ Bear as much as we do? This week’s TCP Tuesday challenge is to use any of the bear stamps from TCP. Susan is your Hipster Hostess with the Mostess and you can get all the challenge details HERE on her blog.

Sneaky Peek Week STARTS NOW!…

It’s that time again! The Cat’s Pajamas is gearing up for another GREAT release {June 28}! Are you a fan of the bunny? The bear? The penguins? You’re in luck, because they are all part of this release! Today we are sneak peeking the cutie patootie new set, Take Off

planecard

This is the best plane set EVER from anyone on the whole face of the earth!! Seriously, I love it and I’m not just saying that! My favorite part about it? PAPER PIECING IT!!…

planecard_paperpiecing

As you can see, I chose to color the bunny a dirty white. To achieve this look, I used my Copic Blender {0}, then Pearl White {E41} and then my Blender again, smoothing out the brown edges into the white paper. I have done this many times with the Big Bear set and it’s one of my favorite coloring techniques {and you know I am NOT a technique-y person!!!} to use when “coloring” something white.

In addition to the A-DOR-A-BLE stamps that are coming out, there are a few new CutUps dies, including the Cloud Border die {which will be living on my desk for a long while!} and some fabby quality seam binding {ribbon} as seen here in the color Dove…

planecard_bow

The Cloud Border CutUps die has been a lot of fun to work with! So far, I have cut apart the clouds and run them through my Big Shot with an embossing folder. I have so many idea swirling in my head for this thing!…felt, cork, tissue paper, sewing {blanket stitch}, pattern paper, layering, the negative of the die are all just some ideas that I jotted down when I first got it!! Howdy friends! Are you all {y’all} having fun with all of this year’s sketches for SFYTT {Sketch For You To Try}? I am so glad that I switched it up to a monthly sketch. There are just so many challenges out there and I know better than anyone that there are just so many hours in a day. We can’t spend them all stamping…even if we wish we could. The last couple of month’s have been hectic and I haven’t even been able to squeeze more than one sketch card in {tisk, tisk…I know!}. Fortunately, this month I got a couple extra minutes and came up with this fun creation using Stamping Bella’s You Perk Me Up PEEPS

Psst~ I flipped the sketch and took a few creative liberties, as well.

bella2

Don’t forget, you can embellish as you choose. I went with a corrugated heart/button/baker’s twine combo here…

I {heart} coloring Bella images!!…

All of the details, as well as the entry link system, for this month’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY can be found on THIS post from the first Saturday of the month. Here’s the sketch…

Let Freedom Ring…

Posted by Jen | Holidays, Verve, projects | Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Have you ever had a project that started out one way and ended so completely different from what you had planned? That’s what happened here. Fortunately, it was for the better…which, I think that we all know is not always the case! This project started with a normal A2 card base and then switched to a square card base and then turned into a home decor project…with lots of other detail changes along the way.

I don’t think that I have any other Independence Day decor, but I guess this is a good place to start…

freedomring1

As you can see, I had a little bit of trouble with glare and such, so here’s kinda the same photo from a different angle…
freedomring2

This project uses a variety of pattern papers with one of the best 4th of July/American sets EVER, American Hero. This set is the set of the month and is on SUPER sale. Check it out!!! I couldn’t pick which stamps to use from this set, so I just went with it and used 5! You know me, I’m generally an image and sentiment girl. Rarely do I create scenes or montages, but this came to me and it works! Next time, I might just have to figure in some handmade/stamped pattern paper {LOVE doing that!!}.

A couple of detail shots {can you see the Stickles on the stars??}…

The whole project measures 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and is inserted into a shadowbox from IKEA. I have a few extra shadowboxes stashed away. They make great gifties and it’s fun to have them on hand when your project takes a turn like this one did!
