Happy Saturday! I have been so busy stamping and I think that my fingers may be permanently stained with ink!…seriously!! Today is the first Saturday of the month and that means I get to introduce a new Guest Designer to you…YAY!!

Please welcome Suzanne Dean as the Guest Designer for the month of September!!
sd.jpg

A little about Suzanne in her own words…
I am a SAHM to 2 loving children and 7 furbabies (5 cats and 2 dogs–yes I am a crazy cat lady, hee hee). I have been married to my wonderful and oh so supportive hubby for 13 years. He supports me in everything that I do including volunteering for our local animal rescue and fostering “many” animals over the years. I enjoy stamping and papercrafting as it is a great escape and form of relaxation for me and my “hectic” life. Nothing makes me happier than good ole’ Mr. Brown bringing me a big box of stamping goodies–that’s a great mail day! I’m so excited to have been asked to be Jen’s Guest Designer this month. I was totally floored and honored that she asked me. Here’s to a month full of fun and thanks for having me!!

Here’s the sketch for this week…

My best memory from this summer is my son and me going to Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts in concert. The way my sons eyes lit up when Taylor came on stage and the grin on his face - it was priceless. I’ll remember that moment forever. Us Mom’s - we’ll do anything to make our kids happy. He’s a good kid - he deserves it.

Well actually I really enjoyed the whole summer because my boys are big enough to remember what we did so everytime we went on a trip my fav. thing must say coming back and talking about what we did and seeing their faces light up all over again. I think that is why summer flew by so fast because we had so much fun this summer.. *SIGH* BUT I am soo looking to fall and all that it brings.. going to the zoo, apple and pumpkin picking and the holidays!! YEAHHH for precious memories :)

This is my first visit here and I am so glad I found you!! Ok, I will try this sketch and post this evening. This will be my first sketch challenge!! My best memory of summer, besides spending time with my family, would be taking my twins to the beach for the very fist time! So silly!!!! Have a great day and I can’t wait to come back and visit!! Take care!

Those cards are fab - the scarecrow is so darn cute!!

Even though it isnt summer here yet (so I dont qualify) I will share my fave thing about last season (winter here in Australia) it was my Mum being told she is in remission from Oesophageal Cancer (it is 5 years to get remission) and after her dying several times and being in ICU 50 days and not expected to come out - it was a very very very special time for me :) and the rest of the family too of course!!!

My favorite summer memory was spending a day at an amusement park riding roller coasters with my sister … we laughed and screamed and had so much fun.

  10. Comment by Michele — September 6, 2008 @ 8:05 am

    My favorite summer memory…

Our son (age 8) plays on a baseball team - one where they hope to keep ALL the boys together all the way through high school (this was their first summer together). Anyway, we had a tournament from Friday to Sunday but we lost our first game Friday night. One more loss and we were out. The game Saturday was rain delayed 6 hours; but we finally played and won. Then on Sunday we had to win EVERY SINGLE GAME to keep going. We played a total of 4 games, won the first 3. The 4th game was a struggle, we were down 11 to 1 - could we POSSIBLY come back and win? Whew, that’s a huge deficit! We came back, still lost, but only by one point. Final score…12 to 11…it was so awesome to see those boys excel and delight in what they had done!!!

  11. Comment by Patty E. — September 6, 2008 @ 8:06 am

My favorite memory of the summer has been scuba diving in Lake Huron. My fiance and I got certified 2 years ago, but this is the first summer we’ve actually done a lot of scuba diving and it has been a blast! The highlight was when we came up from a dive to see my friend’s boat’s engine smoking. We ended up needing a tow to the nearest marina at 10pm…thank goodness it was a beautiful night!

Those cards are great! Thanks for sharing some candy!

  12. Comment by Michelle (mybelle101) — September 6, 2008 @ 8:07 am

WOW!! The samples are both absolutely stunning!!! I’m ready for fall and Christmas to be here now! ;)

My favorite memory of this summer is from being at Disneyland on my son’s 4th birthday…the fireworks were delayed (with the possibility of being canceled), and my son whispered in my ear “Mommy, I’m going to pray for God to take away the winds so we can see the fireworks”. I was so excited for his sweet faith, and prayed God would grant his request…and He did! The fireworks started just a couple minutes later, and were *amazing*. :)

  13. Comment by Veronica — September 6, 2008 @ 8:08 am

    Great work Jen!

I have 2 favorite summer memories: being able to take two vacations this summer with my hubby and our two boys……absolutely fabulous family time!

  14. Comment by Kathyc on SCS — September 6, 2008 @ 8:09 am

What a great sketch and SUPER samples! That scarecrow is so sweet and the Christmas card is simply gorgeous! Here’s my favorite memory from this summer…My wonderful Mother-in-law (yep, I’m one of the very lucky ones) rented a BIG house on the beach in Maine and had everyone up there on what turned out to be the best weather week of the entire summer; it was glorious being there in a beuatful setting, with my husband, our kids, and lots of family! A little bit of heaven here on earth!

  15. Comment by pegg — September 6, 2008 @ 8:10 am

Such great samples!! My favorite summer memory is from my week long vacation at the beach - my one and only time at the beach this year! We had such a great time spending lazy days at the beach playing scrabble, reading, playing kadima, listening to the waves. I love days like that!!

  16. Comment by Tina — September 6, 2008 @ 8:10 am

Another great sketch with fabulous samples. I can hardly wait to try it.

My favorite memory of the summer was when we were on vacation and my son went do the BIG slide at the resort’s waterpark all by himself. Very exciting.

Thanks for the opportunity to win this fab candy!

  17. Comment by Dawn Easton — September 6, 2008 @ 8:12 am

Congratulations Suzanne!!! Your sample is beautiful and it’s making me want to start on my Christmas cards TODAY :)

Jen your sample is adorable. Such a cute scarecrow…lol

Your sketch is awesome as always! Hope to work on it this weekend.

Wow…that would be awesome to WIN some MFT stuff! I think my favourite memory from the summer was when my Mom came from Ontario for a visit. It was a SURPRISE for Chloe. Chloe walked home from school everyday like normal but this time, I was sitting on our front steps waiting. My neighbour and I sat so that my Mom was blocked from Chloe’s view(helps I have a huge Peony bush…haha). When Chloe reached the edge of the front lawn, my Mom jumped out! Of course, tears started flowing!

  18. Comment by Mary (Happy Now) — September 6, 2008 @ 8:33 am

I’ll play! Summer is a fun time in our house, especially August — when we celebrate my Birthday, my husband’s Birthday, and my son’s (3) Birthday (in that order). We had a GREAT time this year! Thanks for the chance — and for the stampin’ inspiration!

  19. Comment by Judy — September 6, 2008 @ 8:42 am

My favorite time this summer was my trip to Coos Bay, OR to visit my sister, neice, and dad. My daughter and two granddaughters (10 & 12) also came along. We had so much fun, as my daughter and granddaughters had never been to Oregon. So we did a lot of site seeing! This was my first time 4-wheeling on the Dunes, and at 60 years old, that was quite an experience! I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

  20. Comment by Lorie — September 6, 2008 @ 8:51 am

Well…I’ll be back later with a card but for now my favorite summer memory is back to school…I’m just kidding! It is actually the little vacation that we took together. We visited the Oregon trail in Baker City Oregon. I just enjoyed having time with my husband, 16 year old, and 10 year old. That is what summer is for, huh?!

  21. Comment by doris — September 6, 2008 @ 8:52 am

my best memory? my best friend got married and had a wonderfyl wedding party:)

  22. Comment by Angela R. — September 6, 2008 @ 8:59 am

Gorgeous cards! Now, best memory??? Hmmmm, one has to be my mom moving near us (the first time we’ve lived close to each since I left to join the Air Force!). I wish it was under better circumstances (long story and if I get into it, it’ll make me cry…), but I’m still glad she moved out here! Thanks for a chance at such awesome *tarts*!!

  23. Comment by Lynne — September 6, 2008 @ 9:14 am

My favorite summer memory is the one of the days we spent at York Beach, me, my two kids and My 3 best friends and their families. We packed lunches, skim boards, boogie boards and off we went. The day was perfect. Full sunshine, temps in the 80’s so it was pleasant and a great sea breeze. The beach was not too crowded, so the older kids had a great time with the skim and boogie boards. The younger kids (3 three year olds) had a great time playing in the sand digging holes and filling them with water.

I took tons of pictures that I’m looking forward to scrapping.

  24. Comment by Trista — September 6, 2008 @ 9:17 am

My favorite summer memory was my family’s trip to Lake Tahoe. We took a float ride on the Truckee River which was something I had done as a teenager. It was so much fun!

  25. Comment by Jana — September 6, 2008 @ 9:17 am

    Cute cards!!

My favorite memory of this summer was going back to my hometown and surprising my friends…..the looks on their faces were priceless….no one was expecting up!!!

Also…my son losing his first tooth was pretty fun too!!!

  26. Comment by Alberta — September 6, 2008 @ 9:23 am

I love your scarecrow card - the combination of colors definitely remind me of the fall season. I’m really looking forward to playing.

    My favorite summer memory…

WHile school was out, my hubby and son started bowling more and it has been fun watching the playful competition between them. It’s funny and sweet watching them trash talk (playfully).

  27. Comment by Rae — September 6, 2008 @ 9:26 am

Believe it or not, my favorite time this summer was flying from Virginia to Idaho to pick up, and drive back across the country with my 19 year old daughter who had spent the summer out there with her grandparents (my mom and dad). The added bonus was seeing my parents, my sister and her kids, my brother and his kids, and my wonderful best childhood friend. Hows that for fantastic!

  28. Comment by Lisa — September 6, 2008 @ 9:40 am

My favorite memory of the summer has to be standing on the beach in North Carolina with my 9 and 10 year old kids and just getting beat up by the waves. We live in Ohio - no beached here - and the kids were loving it! My second favorite memory is drooling over your blog every day!

  29. Comment by Bethany Paull — September 6, 2008 @ 9:44 am

  35. Comment by Colleen — September 6, 2008 @ 10:59 am

I think one of my best memories of the summer was actually Canada Day when we were out with the kids at a local event and came home for a bbq. In the evening, my MIL watched the kids and HD and I went back for the Loverboy concert and the fireworks! Fantastic day!

  36. Comment by Brenda — September 6, 2008 @ 11:01 am

My favorite memory from this last summer was camping with my family, we always have a great time. I also kayaked for the first time and it was some much fun and peaceful on a beautiful lake. I think before next summer we will have some kayaks of our own. Thank you for the chance to win.

Your card is darling! My favorite memory from this summer was spending a week with my 20 year old daughter in Rome, Italy. We saw some incredibly beautiful historical sights, and spent some great quality time together. It was the trip of a lifetime, that I will never forget. Thanks for the chance to win!

  39. Comment by Melody — September 6, 2008 @ 11:09 am

Great sketch and both the cards are wonderful. I will be back with a card later. My best memory of summer is the two weeks of the summer we were all home together. Two of my girls are away at college and only one came home for the summer. Lisa was home for two weeks in August and we all enjoyed being together, enjoying the pool and just being a family.

Love this sketch and the cards! My best memory of the summer was our vacation to Southern California: Disneyland, the beach, museums, friends and family. It was a great vacation!

  42. Comment by amy G. — September 6, 2008 @ 12:13 pm

    hmm, best memory, hey?!
,My cousin got married this summer, and it was the first time in probably 9 years, since my wedding I think, that the whole family got together. It was so nice. My cousin had kazooz’s at her reception, instead of the tinkling of glasses. My mom and her sisters used to all sing together as a touring group, well they got together, and started singing some old hymns, in 6 part harmony on the kazooz’s. It was so amazing, and yet so hysterical at the same time.

  43. Comment by Ashley — September 6, 2008 @ 12:34 pm

This summer was just AMAZING for me. But my favorite memory is of my son’s first birthday. He was just so excited to see everyone and he was an absolute DREAM that day. He didn’t cry once, he played with everyone, he let everyone hold him and to top it off, he picked up his plate of cake and smashed it in his own face. Sigh… Thanks Jen, for letting me share!

  44. Comment by Lori A. — September 6, 2008 @ 12:34 pm

My favorite memories of this summer are just being with my kids.

  45. Comment by Tanya — September 6, 2008 @ 12:42 pm

It was a great summer so that’s kind of hard! Maybe that we finally got to spend the whole 4th of July together as a family and had a great day!

These cards are both wonderful and I hope I get a chance to play with the sketch too! Thanks so much!

  46. Comment by Marcie S. — September 6, 2008 @ 12:44 pm

My favourite memory of this summer was my husband and I taking our almost 2 year old son to the beach. He was sooooo delighted to play in the sand and splash in the water. I took hundreds of pictures, and will always smile when I think of him saying “more beach pees (please)!”

  47. Comment by Arianne — September 6, 2008 @ 1:07 pm

    Love, loooooooove the cards!
    Gotta try this sketch!

My favorite memory from this summer is sitting near the water having lunch with my mom after riding our bikes for nearly 2 hours.
Good weather, good food, good company!

  48. Comment by Wendy Swenne — September 6, 2008 @ 1:11 pm

My best memorie of the summer is the time I could enjoy a very sunny day. Over here there has hardly been any really sunny day this summer. At least, not when I was on an vacation.
So when I was at home, waking up in the morning, and saw the sun shining in, I was so happy. I got dressed, made some tea and made someting to eat and got on to my balcony and enjoyed a good book in the warm sun.

  49. Comment by Melissa (SCS: stampin_melissa) — September 6, 2008 @ 1:31 pm

My favorite memory from the summer would be the time we spent together in VA Beach. DS got to spend time at the beach, which he hasn’t seen in about two years (he’s five) so he didn’t really remember much of that prior experience.

Your cards are beautiful! Thanks for sharing your Blog Tart with us!

  50. Comment by Suzy T — September 6, 2008 @ 1:40 pm

The favorite part of the summer so far has been the time spent with family. We didn’t get to go anywhere on vacation, but we did have fun together playing cards and visiting with aunts, uncles, and cousins.

I can’t wait to try this SFYTT this week. It’s darling!

  51. Comment by Heather H — September 6, 2008 @ 2:13 pm

Awesome sketch - I will definitely be playing this week! Let’s see, my favorite memory from this summer has got to be from our first fishing trip ever as a family. Usually the boys are home with me all day while daddy is at work - so we already have a special relationship. But watching my husband show the boys all about fishing and spending time in the outdoors together was such a great learning opportunity for us all. As my boys get older, there are more and more opportunities for my husband to step in and teach them about life. I am so grateful that they have him to learn from since I grew up without a fatherly influence in my own life. It definitely brings me closer to my husband when I see him with our children, and I actually end up learning something in the process…

My favorite summer memory actually just happened this past weekend. We drove to Arkansas to see my BIL, SIL, and niece. I miss them so much and it had been a year and a half since we’d seen them and I cherished every second and hated leaving them. Thanks for the chance to win! I’m working on my SFYTT entry right now!!

I love those cards. My favorite summer memory(s) are of going to my grandparent’s farm to spend a week or more at a time. Long summer days to play in the creek, pick berries, catch tadpoles, etc. Wonderful, wonderful memories!

My favorite summer memory was in late June/early July. We hosted a group of 15 NC high school students who came and did an English Camp and Basketball Camp for the youth in our impoverished community. We work in Kosovo and our town has an unemployment rate of 50%. The camps were a ton of work, but definitely worth it. The youth who participated have told me all summer long that it was the most fun they have ever had. I hope we can do it again next year!

  55. Comment by Dawn — September 6, 2008 @ 3:09 pm

My Mom and I went to Anaheim this summer as part of her birthday present to see the Red Sox play the Angels! We lost and I got an awful sunburn, but it was still LOADS of fun!!

My bestest and “favoritest” (my english teacher is rolling over in her grave) is watching from the upstairs window, my 16 year old daughter drive away from the house for the first time by herself. She no longers needs me to take her everywhere. While I’m sure I complained about 6:30am basketball practices, I sure loved talking to her in the car as well drove places. Her first trip alone was down 2 exits to the grocery store. AND, it was her first trip to the grocery store alone…that was her shocker…”Mom, stuff costs so much!” Duh, honey. :-) My “stamping zone” as it is called, has a window where I watched and waited for her to return. I watched her as she parked the truck, then smiled and moved away from the window, so she wouldn’t know that I saw her drive up, gather up the groceries….and a bouquet of flowers for me. Pardon me while I get a tissue…………….. Deborah in TX

I’m so excited for a chance to win something from Jen! I hope I am the big winner. I could say something cheezy like…My most exciting memory of this summer was discovering Jen’s Blog. Well, it’s kinda true. I didn’t know anything about blogs until I saw a few addresses posted on the CTMH bulletin board and decided to check them out. Somehow I stumbled on to Jen’s by way of someone else’s. I’ve been trying to make the SFYTT every since. I also became hooked on Copic markers and Whipper Snapper stamps because of Jen and some other Bloggers… I don’t think my husband likes you very much. LOL
Well, anyway. My real favorite memory of the summer is our annual THIRD of July party we have at our house every year. Why THIRD of July? That is my husband’s aunt’s birthday. They have always celebrated “in a big way” on the third. Some how, the party has ended up at our house (we have the pool). Now we invite all of his family and all of mine! This year we had about 50 people. Yes, we are all crazy and disfunctional, but we have a great time!

My best memory from this summer is hard. I had TWO awesome vacations this summer. The first one was to a family reunion in WI with a bunch of cousins, aunts and uncles, and my grandmother who celebrated her 91 birthday at the reunion. It was so fun and very memorable to see people that I don’t get to see very often. The other vacation was with my husband (ALONE) to Sedona, AZ. We haven’t had a “couple” trip in a while. We spent one glorious week hiking and sightseeing all over that area. The Grand Canyon was amazing!! I will never forget some of the most beautiful scenery in our great country. Thanks for a chance to win some great candy, too!

My fave 2008 summer memory is my son graduating from high school!!! He grew up too fast and that time comes all too quickly!

    Hello,
My best memory of this particular summer is that I took the Motorcycle Safe Rider program and was able to obtain my motorcycle license! I have purchased a smaller bike to get comfortable with and now my husband and I can go for rides and explore the countryside for a lot less gas! It is a real experience, one that I never thought I would enjoy quite as much as I do. I am so glad that I went thru with it!

  73. Comment by Lora B — September 6, 2008 @ 8:27 pm

My favorite memory from the summer of 2008 is watching my 5 year old stepdaughter grow and mature SO fast… riding her first rollercoaster, her first very nice restaurant, going up in the Arch… just sharing all of those “firsts” with her was amazing.

  74. Comment by Erika M — September 6, 2008 @ 8:38 pm

My favorite summer memory would be of my family trip to the lake - we were lazy!!!!

  75. Comment by Cindy — September 6, 2008 @ 8:46 pm

My best summer memory is my daughter’s worst summer….odd, huh? My daughter had to have bilateral bunionectomy this summer and had to be pretty much out of comission all summer. She handled it well but towards the end of her convalesence, she was getting a little annoyed with the fracture boots that she had to wear. She would like to forget this summer but this will be a summer to remember for me though because now that she is 15, I hardly have the opportunity to “mother” her so it was nice to be able to do for her and make sure she was comfortable and entertained. Making her favorite foods, bringing her magazines and pudding reminded me of when she was little and had the chicken pox.

Those cards are too cute! Love the scarecrow!! Congrats Suzanne! Great choice for guest designer!

Every year our “family” gets together for a little Memorial Day reunion to honor our Dad. This year at the reunion my daughter and son-in-law announced they were expecting. My dd has had 4 previous miscarriages. We were all keeping our fingers crossed. She is doing wonderful and her due date is Jan 1, 09. I am just so excited to be a first time grandma! darlene

I have to say first BOOMER SOONER!!! I too am not sooner born or sooner bread- but totally sooner wed!!

My favorite summer memory this year has been our times out at the ocean and the beach with absolutely nothing planned and no agenda and just the 5 of us hanging out and having so much fun!! It’s relaxing and easy and I love it. Sad it’s over.

  79. Comment by Melissa — September 6, 2008 @ 9:40 pm

My best memory from this summer would definately be meeting my new niece, Anna, for the first time, and getting to hold her. She is a very happy baby, and crinkles up her whole face when she laughs. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving, when they will come visit again!

  80. Comment by Diana — September 6, 2008 @ 9:57 pm

Had a great summer, so I have lots of great memories. Probably my favorite was taking my oldest son to a concert at the county fair: just him and me, having a blast…

I adore both of these cards, wow! They’re both beautifully done. I think I need this fairy! I didn’t get to do very much this summer, so I would say that I got to spend some time with a very sweet little 5 year old boy to help his family as they were busy working their own business, and I hated to see him alone when things got busy. I took over some pre-stamped images of trucks, pencil crayons and lots of paper and glue, and he was thrilled to colour and make his friends birthday card for a party, and he luvved the glitter! I took him for walks to the park, ice cream, and we had such cute chats, he was a real joy.

My fav summer memory would have to be this summer while on vacation in Idaho…nothing specific, just the absolute fabulous holiday my kids had with my sisters and parents and of course my hubby and I. My daughter tried waterskiing for the first time (she’s 5!!) and her and her brother spent a huge portion of their days in the 10′x16′ sandbox my dad built for them…it was a perfect summer holiday:-)

Good morning! What lovely cards all round! I have 2 very special memories from this summer. First, it was my first wedding anniversary on July 7th. What makes this sweet is that it took me 20 years to find a wonderful man (I was a first time 41 year old bride). The second memory was having my 19 year old son come and visit last week before heading back to university. We had a great visit and he even came to my classroom and help me set up!!

The best memory from this summer? That’s easy! I recently retired, but lived a few hundred miles from my grandchildren, so I moved up to their city so I could be closer to them and see them more often. I’m glad I did, too, as they grow so quickly and I used to see them only 5 or 6 times a year…….now I can see them whenever I want! What more could a Grandma want?

  102. Comment by colleen — September 7, 2008 @ 10:44 am

My favorite memory of the summer right now was packing a picnic supper with my husband and taking it to sit and listen to a member’s -only concert at our city’s Botanical Gardens with our daughter. It ended up raining that day so the concert was held inside, I think that made it even more memorable :-) Our daughter danced and went “potty” in the “big girl” bathroom at least 20 times which was a huge deal (because she has been terrified of using public restrooms (blood-curdling screaming terrified for more than a year - ugh and ugh again for mommy!). I would have taken her to the bathroom 100 times if she wanted to - it was a tremendous developmental breakthrough for us - no screaming, yay!. Crazy that this is my favorite memory right now but I will take progress over anything.
I love your Scarecrow card and so does my daughter :)

  103. Comment by Melanie — September 7, 2008 @ 10:45 am

What beautiful cards from such a wonderful sketch!!! My fave memory from this summer has been all the time I’ve been able to spend with my husband! Both of our schedules shift into high gear in the fall, so the break together is really fabulous.

  104. Comment by Kathleen — September 7, 2008 @ 10:59 am

Jen—thanks for the chance—I’ll be back after awhile with my try at this sketch. I think my favorite memory was one night when my whole family was at my parents’ for dinner and my parents started telling stories about their childhood—precious times for all of us to share together—it’s not exotic, but it was a great night!

  105. Comment by Andrea Murdock — September 7, 2008 @ 11:21 am

my best memory is being able to take the last 2 weeks off with them before school starts and being to relax every day and just enjoy each other’s company instead of me having to rush to work every day. I adore my 2 girls and cherish this time together as I know they are getting older and will soon be too busy with friends to want to spend time with mommy =)

  106. Comment by Mary Dinucci — September 7, 2008 @ 11:26 am

    MFT Stamps…Yea!
My best memory of the summer… It has to be the day we FINALLY drove away from the 3rd garage that was analyzing and repairing the loss of power issue with our older (’96) motor home. We had been in NC (great state for RV’ers) for 5 weeks trying to fix it. And the problem was so basic! It was a VERY GOOD DAY.
I will be trying my skills with your sketch.
Suzanne’s card is so lovely. Can’t wait to see more of her designs. Also want to look at that stamp/stamp set.
    Still stamping,

My favorite memory of this past summer? I have two:

The first favorite memory is getting to spend a whole week with my best friend, Claudia (I moved away three years ago). She tried to teach me everything she knows about scrapbooking and making cards, and THEN she helped me spend $$$$$ buying all the tools and goodies I need! Lucky for me I packed light for the trip. . . .

The second favorite memory is a car load of ladies (ages 55 through 82) from our church going to see “Momma Mia” together, sitting on the back row and ALL six of us “theater dancing” to ‘Dancing Queen’ and ‘Waterloo’–we had a blast! AND we went for ice cream afterwards!

  112. Comment by Linda Crowder — September 7, 2008 @ 1:05 pm

My best time this summer was the time gardening and teaching my friend and roommate about the joys of DIRT. That is short for DOING IT RIGHT! She learned how to grow tomatoes, and how to keep hibiscus blooming and which trees are here in our yard, plus we planted a few vines and it was a joy to see them bloom. In spite of our very hot summer in Texas all the plants did well and the tomatoes were wonderful. The water bill was not! But, I picked and dried a lot of blooms to use in my cardmaking. It is a great way to have real flowers on your cards and to preserve the memories of your summer. We also did a lot of digital photography together, something we were both new at.

Great cards! My favourite summer memory is my partner’s birthday. His birthday fell on a Saturday, and we invited tons of people to stop by for BBQ and beverages. We sat on the deck from noon until almost midnight, and there was a constant flow of guests. It was a great way to celebrate his birthday, and visit with LOTS of different friends.

I hope to get a chance to make a card using this sketch and come back with a link to my card :)

    Fabulous cards this week.

I think my favorite thing about this summer was spending time with my brother after healing a long-time glich in our relationship. I learned that some things are so silly and not worth losing the closeness of family. I actually have 2 favorites. My hubby survived a stroke with no ill effects! whoo hoo

Wow!! what a question. My favorite memory for me about this summer …without a doubt is SURPRISING my mom and dad. It was their 50th anniversay in Aug. So they knew that we were coming home (my hometown) but I told them I was coming on the 6th of august but we arrived on the 5th. So here was the plan my sister and her husband was to keep mom and dad occupied and they did. When we arrive at my parents house ,we parked the car down the street from where they live, went through a neighbors garden and up the hill to my parents house to the back door.My husband ,3 kids and I all walk in the door at the same time.My mom was sitting at the table peeling potatoes and i’m glad she was sitting or she would have fallen to the floor. My dad was in the washroom and when he came out we were in the living room ,he was so surprise that he was speechless for the rest of the day.We really surprised them.
The reason for the surprise was that I haven’t been home for 9 years and alot of people haven’t seen my family before.

Have a Great day!! Thanks for the opportunity Jen.

Wow–love that card! Thanks for sharing! My fav memory…that’s so tough–I’d have to say though, that my fav memory relates to smell–all those smells that come with family get togethers–the smell of a fresh child out of the tub, all slicked up for the event, the smell of the turkey in the oven, the smell of grandma’s powdery perfume……the smell of coffee at the end of the meal……smells just bring back tons of memories for me.

  138. Comment by Rachel V. — September 8, 2008 @ 7:33 am

We didn’t have a very eventful summer. No trips planned since we just moved into a new house, and money is a little tight. But, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching my kids play in their new big yard, make friends in the neighborhood, and my 6yo finally caught on to the swimming thing. Lessons just weren’t cutting it, but swimming at day camp and at a neighbor’s pool several times a week was just what she needed for it to all come together for her!

  139. Comment by Denise — September 8, 2008 @ 8:02 am

I think that my favorite memory from this summer was a trip that we took to Sea World. My youngest son has been wanting to ride the kiddie Shamu Roller Coaster but he wasn’t tall enough to ride. So each time we went he had to watch his older brother and sister ride and it just drove him crazy! So at the end of the summer we went and he was finally able to ride the roller coaster. He was so excited!! All the time we were standing in line he just kept laughing and saying “Me Bigger”!! It was adorable.

Best memory from the summer, eh? A weekend trip to our friend’s cottage in Prince Edward Island. We weren’t in a rush to go anywhere, just sat, had a few drinks, chatted, laughed and soaked up a bit of sun. It was so very relaxing and beautiful, I’ll remember it for a long time.

My Favorite memory from this summer is when we went fishing and my three year old caught a fish for the first time, the look on his face priceless.

  144. Comment by Linda — September 8, 2008 @ 9:22 am

Best memory? This summer? I sort of have 2…my 4 year old learned to swim and swims like a fish (can even do the backstroke, the little bugger!) and my daughter learned to ride a 2-wheeler…without ANYONE to help…just picked up a friend’s bike and off she went!

My favorite memory from this summer was parasailing over the Gulf of Mexico with my son and daughter on the last day of our Marco Island vacation.

  146. Comment by DeniseLynn — September 8, 2008 @ 10:03 am

First of all both cards are soooo nice; great colors and coloring. My favorite part of summer was spending some extra time with my grand parents and seeing the smiles on my children’s faces as they get to know their great-grand parents better. My grandfather has alzheimers but is able to remember my boys easier now that we’ve spent lots more time with him. (his medication is helping too). Such a blessing! Of course the mild temperature was an added bonus; sunshine is great but the high temps make me melt. (hee hee)

My favorite memory is going to the beach at Lake Michigan as a whole family. The wind was strong so the waves were high enough for a red warning flag to be posted by the DNR. Although we were cautious, we got right in the water and jumped over the waves for hours!

What great cards! I love Suzanne’s sample, too- get’s me itching for Christmas already.

My favorite memory from this summer was taking a few days off to spend with my hubby. We went to the beach and the zoo and just spent time together, which we don’t do enough of these days.

    Thanks for the chance!!

Wonderful cards! Suzanne is so amazing! What she does with the Whiff of Joy stamps is gorgeous! Love your scarecrow’s flannel - it even looks worn in some areas :)
Probably my best memory/feeling from this summer was first to realize that all of my family was ok - even the dogs - and second to come home and find my house still intact after a Supercell F3 tornado ripped through the neighborhood (literally!) Thanks for the chance! I’ll have to try to find some time to whip up a SFYTT card too :o)

  152. Comment by Janie in Canada — September 8, 2008 @ 2:51 pm

Well, my best Memory of this summer was a text message that I received while in Church. My phone was on vibrate but I looked at the message and almost cried out loud. It read “Hey Mom, thinking of moving back home in the Spring. What do you think?” Of course I stayed for service, but thanked the Big Guy in all my prayers. My son is 32 and went to Ft. Lauderdale for 6 months to help his boss set up his restaurant. That was 8 years ago. I see him every year, but to have him near by for the hugs and the sound of his laughter, well, the message just made my whole summer & it just doesn’t get any better that big hugs. Life is good & I am thankful. Bringing home his new bride to be too…. whoo hooo!

Beautiful cards! TFS and thanks for the chance to win! I’m a total fall/winter girl so I cannot wait for halloween/thanksgiving/christmas. I hate the heat of summer and though I’m in California and rarely does it get over 80 degrees when it does its painful. That being said I have very few good summer memories =) But since I got married in the summer (and thankfully there was a beautiful breeze and it was overcast) my honeymoon was my favorite summer memory. We went to Paris and the weather was perfect–some sun, some rain, some clouds–just perfect.
    Thanks!

This summer, actually just a week ago, I got to end my summer with a week of laughs, music, camping and friends. My brother bought me and my sister tickets to the Strawberry Music Festival in California. From Tues to Monday, we camped, played Cranium, listened and played great music, and laughed til our sides hurt. So many memories, and so much fun!

Definitely my favorite moment this summer was taking my 10 yr old daughter to the Jonas Brothers Concert! It was amazing! Those boys are awesome and sure can sing. My daughter kept hugging me and thanking me for taking her. We had the best time - it was really special. And she didn’t even compain once as we walked around the parking lot for an hour and a half searching for our car - LOL! Note to self….remember where you part at the next concert!

My husband has been wanting to go to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural history in Washington, DC for quite a number of years now — and this summer we made it work to go. He went one day with our eldest daughter for special time with him and Grandpa.

While he loved showing our DD around, he wanted to see more! So, the next day we were granted some precious time alone, and we spent the morning re-visiting the museum, really getting to see stuff he wanted to see… and discovering many things that really had me jazzed.

I even got a great photo of him with a special statue to him — goofy/sweet/genuine, that I know I will treasure for years.

These are the memories that make this Summer very special.

Summers spent in our “cabin” in NW Minnesota. Our cabin is a one room loft without running water or electricity, but we always had something to do. Spent many hours fishing, playing in the woods around the cabin, and being with family. Wish I had the time to go up there every year again as an adult. Maybe next year!

A favorite memory from the Summer? There are many this Summer, but probably the one that will stand out most and will last a lifetime was my mission trip to Nicaragua. Although the circumstances weren’t all happy and joyous, it was eye opening, life changing and an experience to remember.

Another fun time was taking my kids to a birthday party with pony rides and they were SOOOO excited and happy to get to ride them over and over again! :D

My best memory for this summer is the vacation we just took to Orlando, FL. It was our first stay at our new timeshare and we were very impressed. Although it rained most of time while we were there (due to Hurricane Fay) we did not let that damper our spirits. We still got to go to the Beach and it was just a fun and relaxing vacation and then we went to Biloxi, MS to gamble at the Beau Rivage!

Love the cards and the stamps are too cute! My best memory was of my youngest grand daughter, Abby and I playing in her sandbox…..she was in it and I was sitting on a ledge next to it….(the knees don’t bend too well) She is so much fun and is so earnest as she goes about her busy little life. I really treasure these times as I never got to share anything like this with the other 10 grands.

My favorite memory from this summer is Fourth of July. My mom and I are big fireworks fans so we went to watch the city show together. We got an awesome seat that was so close, it was like the fireworks were right over us. Seriously, I reclined back on our blanket and just was in awe of the spectacle taking place above!! 2 favorite summer memories… My 20 month old is learning to talk and is DARLING! When my hubby went away for a weekend for work, his first “sentence” was, “daddy hoooome” With a huge stress on the home. Broke my heart but it was sure sweet. Second, our cousins came out from Michigan for a whole 5 weeks. We had a blast acting like tourists here in Cali!

My favorite time this summer was taking our girls to the Black Hills….something my family did when I was a kid. I called it a ‘history vacation’, but they were not amused. We stayed in a beautiful cabin, grilled outside every night, sat in the hot tub, and just chatted about whatever came to mind. Our summer vacations always steer us to the woods….so peaceful and we had a great time! Thanks for the chance to win some great blog bling!

It is great to Suzanne on this site as a guest designer. You girls are so very talented and it is a pleasure to see your creative designs.

Thanks for a chance at the blog candy.

My favorite memory from this summer is a collection really but what really sticks out is camping with my hubby and darling girls (most of the time) in Lancaster for a couple of weeks. We so enjoyed the fires at night, the fireworks, swimming, biking and hiking with eachother. The girls are growing up so fast and every minute is a time to treasure.

    Chicken Pox can cause massive scarring of the skin that may not clear, that’s bad.,;
