MFT, ABC, a YAY And a BOO!…

Posted by Jen | ABC Friday, MFT, cards, projects | Friday, June 20, 2008

Although I think that the ATC I made for last week’s ABC Friday is pretty, I think it was kind of a jip for ABC Friday. So, I am here today to make it up to you! I was up LATE last night. Early compared to my college days, but late for the present day! LOL!

***I will have more info about a template on Monday***

Before I get onto the project, I want to share my YAY and BOO. First, my YAY. I was talking to my bud, Shannan, this morning and she told me to be sure to go check out the demo challenge on SCS. What do ya know!?!?…It’s my pizza box!! You might just be seeing some more of these from me…in print! ;)

Now, for my BOO! I got a pair of really cute MaryJane style Crocs this spring. About a month + ago they just broke. I called customer service and told them my issue. They told me that unless I had a receipt dated within the last 90 days, which must also prove that the retailer is an authorized distributor, I was out of luck. You can tell that these shoes hardly have any wear and tear. For a pair of shoes that cost $70, I thought that a company might stand behind their brand a little better!! I know that my little rant isn’t going to put them out of business, nor is that my intent. However, I just want you to be aware that if you fork over the cash, don’t expect them to stand behind their product. BTW-I had purchased them within 90 of them breaking and they were purchased from an authorized retailer. After wearing them a few times, I thought is was safe to toss the receipt. I am seeking alternative methods of getting them fixed/replaced. I guess I have just had such wonderful service with all products/services that I thought that was the norm…apparently not CROCS!!

…Hopping off my little anti-Croc soapbox…

Here’s the project for ABC Friday! It’s a tri-fold notecard, card and envie holder that ties together. The criss-cross holders were, of course, inspired by Michelle Wooderson. HERE is a tutorial on the cards that I am referring to. This particular tri-fold holds a notecard, three 3×3 cards and 3 matching envies.

I know that there are ton pictures. I am a visual person and I like to see all angles, so that is what I am displaying here. After editing this many pics, I thought it might be overkill. Then I thought that too much of a good thing…is a good thing. Right ;) Speaking of good things. The DP used on this project is American Crafts and the stamps are from My Favorite Things.

See you here tomorrow for a SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY. I’ll might just pop in on Sunday to tell you a secret that I have been keeping! ;)

Holy Cow, Jen! I’m with you… I would certainly expect Crocs to stand behind their product better than that!

Cute ABC Project! Love the colors!

Wow! I would have thought they had better customer service than that for as much as we pay for their product - sheesh!! Hope you get it resolved…..your project is totally wonderful - I LOVE this!!! Great colors and the ice cream just screams summer! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex

Honestly…if we were to save receipts for every thing “just in case” we would all be coated in paper…there would be no room to move. I only save receipts if it’s a BIG purchase…and while $70 shoes are expensive, I’d have tossed that receipt out too, after a few wears. Where did they break? My daughter had a pair that broke where the strap connected…I bought a $3 Jibbitz and used that to re-connect the strap. She never wore them behind her heels, which was good, because that Jibbits held SO tightly! Now of course, we have to toss the crocs (they’re old, abused and too small) and I want that Jibbitz…so I guess scissors are next!

if you purchased your crocs with your credit card, write a letter detailing your experience and your phone call with their company. be sure to let the company know how much you enjoy their product but you are presently dissatisfied with your recent purchase. enclose a copy of your credit card receipt plus whatever documentation you can get to prove the retailer is an approved distributor of the crocs.

if this doesn’t get a positive response, i would let the company know about your dissatisfaction with their product and customer service and that you will continue to put the word out to all about your experience.

    Cute, cute, cute project!!!!!

Too bad about your Croc experience. My ds broke his after several months of wear and he did it so it wasn’t that they just wore out and dh managed to get Crocs to send him another strap.

Oh my gosh, I can’t believe Croc won’t stand behind their shoes!! That’s just ridiculous, really. I hope you can at least get them repaired elsewhere.

That folder is so cute. How did I not see this before?? I visit Mish’s blog daily, too, and just completely missed it. Love it!!

I flippin’ love this project…. Do you have a template or something???? I just gotta try it!

And those Crocs people are meanies!

  15. Comment by Elaine — June 20, 2008 @ 11:44 pm

    Hey Jen,
I love this project! WAYYYYYYYY cute! I am sorry the company didn’t do anything about the shoes…that sucks. I’ve had the same sort of thing happen at Ann Taylor Loft….how the heck are you supposed to know the item is going to be defective? We’d have a house stacked full of receipts if we all saved the slips…geesh!! Good to know though!

  16. Comment by Lisa — June 21, 2008 @ 1:37 am

If you purchased with credit card, get the credit card company to provide you a copy of the receipt for Crocs. If Crocs still doesn’t back you up, then have your credit card company file a dispute. That’s the biggest benefit of using a credit card, in my opinion.

    Good luck!

Sorry about the shoe issue….total bummer and I, too, hate to spend that kind of money and it be a waste. Not good customer service at all!

Your project is AMAZING! Absolutely AMAZING Jen! You always come up with such fabulous ideas…wish I could pick your brain someday…lol!

I love your project- it is so fresh and fun!

Yikes about the shoes! I too would think Crocs would stand behind their product.

Cute project! Love the pictures too, the more the better. It gives you an idea of what it looks like from all sides. Thanks for sharing, so bright and cheery!
Total bummer about the shoes! It is bad to spend that amount of money on something to find that the company doesn’t back their product.

This is one of the most darling little noteholders I’ve seen in awhile. I think I will be making a couple of these as little gifts, since the boys are going to summer school/camp and I’ll need something in about 2.5 weeks. Thanks!
