“Awful” Story And A Sketch

May 10, 2008, by {Jen}

Hooray it’s Saturday! I’m actually just glad that this week is over. I’m not waiting for anyone to play me the world’s smallest violin, but I will tell ya that it has been a heck of a week. Tony completed his finals…YIPPPEEEEE!! After pulling several nearly all nighters he is officially done with his first year as an MBA student. Three cheers for Tony!!! The bad part about all that is that he got sick half way through the week. Boo!! I had already taken Ellie to the doc on Monday with her first ear infection. Poor thing has the worst cold ever! It moved from just being a good ol’ snotty cold into her eyes and ears. Can I tell you how much “fun” it’s been administering antibiotics?…ahhh!! Not only are the 2 of them sick, but I am, too. Ugh!! That’s most of the reason that I new week starts tomorrow. That’s not even the “awful” part…Since Tony had been studying so much, and I had been prepping and going to the Arlington Shoebox Swap last weekend, we had a bunch of stuff DVR’d. All week we knew that Thursday night was going to be our night to chill out with some ice cream and our shows. We were watching the season finale of Dexter and it started skipping. Tony tried to fast forward and it froze. After waiting several minutes for the system to do it’s integrity check we called DISH. The kid on the other end of the line told us to unplug the box and it should reset itself and be fine. NOT TRUE!!!!! When we plugged it back in, we got and error message that said that our system had been wiped clean. So here I sit wondering what happened to Dexter’s sister, not to mention Grey’s and we also had 2 episodes of The Shield {the last 2 of the season- on reruns}. Life could be worse, I suppose. BTW-DO NOT SPOIL THESE FOR ME PLEEEEEASE! I will get around to seeing them sometime.

Now for the real reason of this post, today’s Sketch For You To Try
sfytt_051008.JPG

Here’s my sample using Cecily Cinnamonsticks from the chichiboulie line at Stamping Bella

I hope that you will play along, too! Please link your creations to this post and if you upload to SCS, please use the keyword SFYTT. As always, you can see more great creations with the sketch from Amy, Carole, Shannan and Susan. Have a great weekend!! Tony will be here tomorrow…yay!! Stop by and give him a virtual high five for getting through the first year of the MBA program. :)

Glad this week is over for you, Jen, and I hope the fam. is on the mend and feeling better. You are definitely the fairy Queen — this one is no exception!

Oh Jen- sorry you are all sick and that your DVR got wiped out. I have had a VCR (in the day) failure and missed a series finale and my DH and I were devastated at the time.

    Great sketch this week!

Oh goodness Jen! Sorry to hear that everyone is sick in the house. It’s hard enough to take care of the little one when you are well, but when you are sick too…makes it nearly impossible! Here’s hoping you all are getting better!
Congrats to Tony for finishing up this week!
Your card is adorable!! I’m going to need those stamps next time I order.
Toni’s card is gorgeous. Beautiful stamp set!

I love this sketch—I hope to get to it this weekend, but with Mother’s Day and soccer, I’m not sure I will. Your card is sooooo great! I’m so glad you showed us the detail shot—love it! So sorry you have all been sick—nothing is worse than that!

Hope you all start feeling better soon! I hate when you have something DVRed and those stupid computers screw up! Love your card - your coloring is just b-e-a-utiful! :) Love Toni’s too, I’m a sucker for garden silouhettes.

I hear you! I only watch a few shows, but they are the ones I love and I get upset when I miss one. Try going to the website like nbc.com etc. You can watch alot of shows online.

There’s nothing like a bad week getting worse. I commiserate with the whole DVR incident. Mine screwed up a few weeks ago and erased Idol. The next night it went a little wacky and forgot to record Survivor even though I had set it. I sat down to watch after a long day and …nothing. UGH!!! Anyway, I don’t know about Dexter and The Shield but you can catch Grey’s Anatomy on abc.com. Hope this helps.

Sorry about the bad week. I hope everyone feels better soon. What a bummer about DVR :( When you get some time you can see Grey’s on the internet. I am not familiar with the other shows, but I am sure you can watch those as well.
Love this little card and the sketch is awesome :)

Sounds like a crazy week, Jen! I’m familiar as I got all four wisdom teeth out this week. Not nearly as bad as it could have been, but not too much fun.

I love the sketch and I really love your sample! The colours are gorgeous and your colouring is amazing! TFS! Hope this week goes better!

    Hi Jen-

Try hulu.com for the missed episodes of your shows. I don’t know if they have the ones you want to watch, but they often post full episodes of popular shows the day after they air. Grab your laptop and climb into bed and watch them together. we do that sometimes and its the best!!! Congrats on the end of finals for Tony!!!

OMG I am so sorry, Jen! UGH! I remember once that happened to me and I was NOT happy! The repairman came out and took my DVR box loaded with a bunch of shows I hadn’t watched. WAH! I feel you. Make sure to check on line for episodes you missed.

Great card! I probably need that stamp too! Maybe after the move. LOL

Congrats to your hubby for a year done! I know you have both sacrificed! YAY for the year being over!

I always love your cards and your sketches are great! I’ve had my DVR mess up before too so I know how you feel. I’m glad to know that I’m not the ONLY Dexter fan out there. :-) I’ll gladly spill the beans if you want to email me. :-) BTW, if you go to showtime.com you can pay to watch an episode on demand. I don’t know what they charge as I’ve never done it. Just wanted you to know that that’s an option. I’m not sure that CBS will re-air any episodes because it’s a Showtime program. Just a thought.
